I own both gen's a 1993 and a 1997 LSC.
I just picked up my 97 and this is what i've found.
I use to be a big mark vii guy, put a 5spd in one, lots of goodies/suspension/etc, made one to be black on black special edition clone.
Wound up parting it out to build a sick gen 1, i got a gen 1, and i loved it, but the more i drove it the more outdated it felt. It looked like a 15 year old car, as it should, because it is.
I use to think the gen 2's were silly looking with thier huge headlights, but after driving the gen 1 for awhile i started looking around for a gen 2 that reminded me of my old mark vii, (black on black with a moonroof) well after a long long wait, lots of wasted trips to check out vehicles, i found it, and secured it two days ago.
Here is what i've discovered.
The 93 is a luxurySPORTcoupe
The 97 is a LUXURYsportcoupe
My 93 stops ALOT better and pulls ALOT harder with 140,000 miles on it vs my 55,000 mile 97.
The 97 is slow as a dog turd, but thats ok, its not a race car. (yet) :gr_devil:
The 93 handles better, but the 97 rides better, it feels more percise.
The interior and features (puddle lamps, front/rear heated leater seats, dimming interior lights, turn signals built into the mirror, hid's, etc etc, make the gen 2 OWN in styling and where it lacks performance that can always be changed with some mods.
I def like my gen 2 over my gen 1...but i still love driving my gen 1, it GETS it for being mainly stock.
Either way, they are both purely awesome vehicles, i just like the updated gen 2, black on black, tinted out, with a moonroof....drivin that thing makes me
