Mine is a V8 LS, no other designation. What options make them "Sports". I've looked all over the net and see LS' listed as sports but nothing that says what makes them that. Just curious.

Different suspension parts (Springs, shocks, sway bar's, etc), SST transmission. Different brake parts.

These all make the car much sportier in the corners. Also a much stiffer ride..

The sports don't have chrome pieces on the bumpers. They come with 17 inch wheels. I think the brakes are the same though.

are the brakes the same? if not can you swap them would there be and + to doing that? Ken, Quick?????

A quote from Quik,

"The total 'sport' option included bigger 'grippy' sway-bars, larger wheels, tuned shocks, tuned steering, upgraded brake pads.

the sport package included:

17" Mini Aluminum Spare Wheel and Tire... Replaced 16" Aluminum Spare Wheel and Tire.
European Sport Suspension Tuning............ Precision handling tuned shocks, sport tuned steering calibration and performance brake linings.
SelectShift Automatic Transmission............
Body Color Bumper Treatment
(Monochromatic Appearance)
Engine Oil Cooler
Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel/Shifter

IIRC, the brakes are the same.

You'd be suprised how many people think that since I don't have the chrome on the bumpers that I have the "cheap-o" version of the LS.

But on that note. Couldn't you get a Ultimate/Sport package that had all the bells and whistles but also had the sport package?

The 2005 LS/v8 Ultimate has everything from the sport and LSE package...except the body kit. On the 2006 they threw in the front body facia and everything. If you order the 2006, with the THX Nav system, side air bags, adj pedals you'll get it all! The sport options, the LSE front air dam and grill and the V8 and the sport transmission. Its fully loaded.

Yes, you could get an Ultimate and add the sport suspension and sst.

Ok, should I assume my 02 LS V8 is a sport model? It has no chrome on front bumper, shift-tronic auto, 17" chrome 5 spoke wheels, vented disc brakes, leather wheel, Alpine 6 CD stereo. Either way the car is great, so don't really care, just wondering. Is there somewhere on the car that lists the option package?

yes you have the sport model, except i think those vented brakes were put on aftermarket. correct me if im wrong.

Yes, you're right, the brakes are listed as ventilated on my dealer option sheet, but in fact are not a drilled rotor, just "vented"? Thanks

Aren't all brake rotors vented?

Like 99 KOBRA said, not all rotors are vented. Here's a pic to clear it up for ya.
