What other cars where you interested in....

I like the cobras... As you can tell by my signature but my favorite vehicle is a truck but the trucks I want are just too expensive for me...

I agree but she doesn't like those small SUV's. I've tried very hard at convincing her but she doesn't dig 'em. Did I mention she drives 1.3 miles total p/day (5 days/week)? Then the car sits on weekends. She alternates between my truck & my black Mark.

Reason I like the Aviator is if we need to go somewhere that the family is included, we always go in multiple cars because NO ONE likes sitting in the back of our Mark VIII's.

Don't get me wrong, Alex. The Aviator was an extremely sweet vehicle. It seems to be made for smaller people though as my head always felt like it was about to hit the ceiling and I'm 5'9". Women really seem to like the way they drive and feel on the interior. When I took mine to Spring Training in Arizona, I averaged 18mpg with an intense head wind, which really surprised me. I think they weigh 5700 lbs. or so, which is why the dinking around mileage is stinky. But I only ran very short errands as well. No doubt, this was the nicest vehicle I owned before the Mark. The shifter was complete rubbish, though, as you really couldn't discern the detents. Many have had theirs rebuilt with an aluminum piece in place of the plastic one that fails and the set screw that comes un-locktited. Is that a word? I owned two Explorers before this and this just out-classed those by miles. Paint job was awesome, too. It was the ivory pearlescent. Because most of these are family vehicles, I had to be patient to find one with this mileage and shape, but it's possible.

Sorry neither of your Marks are doing it for you :(. That's really sad. I certainly can't say the same. Hope you find your dream car again soon.

I always wanted a mustang, but ended up taking the 95 mark from my dad and eventually gave it back. I found my 95 5.0 and I love it! But if i could, I'd get a 2011 5.0 mustang, the new 2013s are nice but I don't like the tail lights or the heat extractors on the hood.

Spent about 4 months looking at mostly 93+ Caddys with the Northstar mill. Almost bought an STS but there was too much wrong for the price. I had the Marks in the back of my mind but the Mark VIIIs are rare up here.

Lucked into looking at a Craigalist ad which said "Luxury and mileage too", nothing about the car. Looked at it, fell in love and borrowed a few bucks to nail her.

$1550 for a very nice garage kept Mark VIII. About 100K miles and a 75K mile motor. I stole it, could not be happier. Slight shudder on the 1-2 shift when really hot is now completely gone with a cooler. I will still do the J-Mod, I have all the parts.

Funny you mentioned the Caddy. I got my LSC off the original owner and he actually went shopping for a Caddy first, but the salesman insulted him, so he went and bought the Mark VIII LSC brand new!

Have you gotten rid of those goofy looking 3 spoke GT wheels yet? I bet it would look 100x better with some 03/04 cobra rims on it! Get em in black to complete the murdered look you're goin for.

I spent nearly 30 years driving semi trailer and I get a big kick out of whet I call the stupid trucks. The huge RAMs the big Chevys and Fords kinda make me laugh.

They are almost always empty and well washed and accessorized. My Suzki Swift romps past the 4x4s in anything except deep snow. You never see em' up the mountain where we take the dirt bikes and more radical 4x4s. I guess they are just transportation for trucker wannabes. So huge and ... overdone. A 60 or 70 pickup from any of the major makers are far nicer in my not so humble opinion.

When you were car shopping for your present Mark viii?

I was looking for something similiar to this, but decided it wasn't worth the risk. :(

wow, look how dated that eldo looks now, the marks look so much better, that thing looks like a boxy old cavalier now.

I just like the "body" more. The Mark > the eldo in every other category.

Put the mark powerplant, ext lighting ect ect in the eldo and I'd go buy one right now.

Hook my trailer up to any 60 or 70 pick up and watch it go 35 mph with no AC then blow up. Yeah I love the old trucks too but they do not hold a candle to what us new wanna be truckers can do with ours.

Forgot to mention that I would like to find a Mercury Grand Marquis sport edition with the center counsel shift option. Or a Marauder (dark blue peral metallic of course) but they just want to much $$ for em.

My power stroke does get hooked to a trailer as much as possible, I have 4 wheel drive but live in Ohio so it's nice in the winter. As far as comfort, I can take the power stroke on a decently long trip ( trailered a 70 cyclone from Ohio to Wisconsin) and I wouldn't dream of doing that in the 77 gmc that I have... I know what you mean, a lot of guys my age have them and don't even have a trailer to pull...

Nothing. Since my Mark is my fun car, when the car became available I drove 450 miles to Ohio to pick it up.
