I have an opportunity to buy a 94 Mark VIII as a parts car for my 95. I'm almost definitely buying this car, because it'll only cost me $400. I just want to know what parts are not the same. One more specific question is about the mirrors. If I'm correct (50-50 at best LOL) the mirrors on the 94 are not self dimming because there is no big module on the back of the rearview in this car and my 95 has one and is self dimming. I'm cool with just regular mirrors, my question is will the aiming buttons work or is the whole wiring harness for the mirrors different? Any input will be appreciated.

a didget on the vin?

I thought the module on the rearview was the compass module, which was moved from the trunk to that location.

Well, there goes the 50% where I was right:slam

I have two 94 Mark VIII's. The green one has auto dimming mirrors and the red one doesn't. It was an option then.

I wish my green car didn't have auto dimming mirrors, as all the liquid leaked out of the outside mirror, and I had to remove the outer glass for it to work as a mirror again.

The compass module on my cars is in the trunk. I think the Gen 2 has the compass module at the inside mirror.

I have a 96 and mine is on the rearview mirror. I first noticed this because the subwoofers in my trunk didn't throw off my compass like most others' did.

Sorry, I didn't know that the 96 had the compass module on the mirror.

Anyone know about the 95's?

So, how did you get the outer glass off the mirror without wrecking it? That sounds like a good solution to me.

You could just replace it with one off eBay?

Again? I've done that twice already! No thanks, Rich. If I can just get rid of the self dimming part of it, I'll be very happy.

the radio is a double din in 1995, as opposed to single din in 1994. the center dash part of the console looks different as a result.

My 95 has the compass module on the mirror. The 95 also has the cruise controll lights on the steering wheel. My buddies 94 does not. Also the stereo and the trim around it. The exhaust is different at the bumper and the 95 also has cut outs molded into the rear bumper cover for the pipes to exit. The ecm is different too I think.

I used a screwdriver to push the plastic seal/rim of the glass up and away from the glass, near the gap in the seal.

I carefully worked the seal off the top and sides of the glass. Be careful the glass is sharp. Then I separated the outer glass from the mirror. I used a rag to wipe the fluid off so it wouldn't get on my paint.

Then I cut the wires and took the seal off the glass. The seal broke in 1 spot so now it's in 2 peices. I'll glue the seal back on and seal it when I get some black silicone sealer.

You can see in the photos that the edges still look bad on the mirror but the seal and silicone sealer should cover these up. I'll add another photo when I finish the job. The mirror is nice and clear otherwise.

Here's some photos:

My 94 has a flat mirror, but there was a wire under the headliner, I assumed it was for an auto-dim option...

rear bumper covers are different. any one know when the embroidered lincoln stars started on the seats? Our old 93 did NOT have them, but our 94, 95' 96' and 98' have them. I'm wondering if it was just an option in 93 cause i'm almost positive i've seen em in 93's

my 94 has them, but I have never seen them in any 93 that I have looked at.
