What Plug Wires ?

I paid $40 for a set of AC delco wires from rock auto when they were on clearence. The fit is good and seem to be good quality. I used delcos on my SHO when their wiresets were just as good as ford's, but $75 cheaper.
 
Get Motorcraft wires. If you want blue get wires for a 1998 mustang cobra, I think they are cheaper than the red mark wires the mark calls for.
 
hey i just did my plugs and wires and i cant get the wires they way they were can someone tell me how to put them in? like were they are supposed to go so all the wire fit properly and look good, i know it sounds like a really stupid question but. :)

I use the same wires. Never had a problem with them. They aren't colored but they are gray. I'm not in under the hood engine shows so I could care less what color they are.

Do you mean the wires are just laid out differently, or are they actually wired up in a different order? Please elaborate.
 
Different order.
There was a disscussion about this on this forum sometime if you search, I don't think we ever figrued out which was the totally 'correct' way, but mine came from the factory different...

Yah, mines been the '96 diagram way all it's life. I don't know if it's a mistake in the shop manuals or my car is an oddball...

My 93's follow the 'standard' order, as their numbering follows that diagram I linked to.

That other diagram shows the coil packs as actually being labeled different, so I guess there were 2 different types of coil pack in use?

Easy enough to work out, though - guy I posted at just needs to confirm which coil pack numbering he has and follow the relevant diagram.

Weird that Ford would do that - I understand that a 96 could be a strange animal, being OBD II and all that, just odd that it happened in other years. :confused:
 
technically there are 4 coils that fire 2 plugs at the same time. its just they package 2 of them together, On each coil you can reverse the pairs and run fine, cause they fire the same time. you can switch them anytime and would give longer plug life. cause have you ever noticed how one side of the engine more of the electrode will be worn down and the other the ground strap will be warn down more?? I believe from the factory half the engine came with platinum plugs and the other half had PG platinum ground plugs. you can't buy them, they were factory only. so as a replacement it calls for double platinum. Ford was just counting pennies and saving a fraction on the amount of platinum.
