What the Buzz?!?

returning from my trip to SW Georgia today, i'm riding along and my car buzzes at me. it's the same buzz that you hear when you are low on gas or deactivate the traction control. i look down to the display center and see nothing but what is usually there, the fuel milege average; what i usually keep it on. what could this be? i have heard it before maybe two or three times over the course of nine months with the same results; nothing.
 
turn signal? maybe?

did you bump the head lamp delay control maybe?
 
don't think so. in fact i had the headlamps turned to parking lights/fogs (had been driving through some rain in atlanta). Didn't have the delay set.
 
Ah! You've found the mystery beep. This has been a known problem on some LS's. Mine does it from time to time. I have been able to see it display on the Message center only once and it said Transmission Error. The Lincoln engineers think that this is just something quirky in the electrical system. I wouldn't worry too much about it because your dealer will NEVER find the cause of the problem.
 
My wife's phantom beep was her trunk ajar switch. After fiddling with it, the beep went away. That being said, my LS has done this twice now too. :) I haven't checked to see if it is the trunk. Haven't been able to look fast enough to see any kind of error.
 
My Lincoln must have the mystery beep too! I have heard it maybe 3 times in 6 months and look down and there are no warning lights on or anything.....It's good to know I ain't alone and that there is nothing to worry about....I love my Lincoln more everyday. Me and hubby were talking last nite that when this Lincoln gets too many miles we will get another Lincoln LS NO QUESTION!! :zgreenbou
 
I sometimes get the phantom beep when I put on my turn signals, it doesn't do it any other time just when i use the turn signal
 
It's the "phantom beep". Just about all LS8's have it. Don't know about the v6's. It's actually an issue with the communications between the tranny and dash module I believe. You will never get it fixed. It's so intermittant that finding it would be impossible.
 
The buzz you may be hearing is when the car reaches 1/2 tank. Happens everytime for me...
 
I have a V6 and i have never heard anything like this. In fact, i have never heard a 'buzz', my car has a ding ding and a beep, but no buzz. I also dont have a message center so that must be why. My car also doesnt make any sort of noise when i deactivate the advancetrack.
