what would you do if you had...

Mods

Tie together this thread with the recent one on the age of those who visit here, and the whole thing comes into perspective.

To answer the question asked, I'll make a list that will fall into the 25 K parameter but not try to assign costs. And I'll list already done things as part of the project.

1. Body modifications and repair

B. Mesh grille
C. Front splitter
D. Belly pan
E. Finish passenger doors alignment, etc.
F. Remove road rash, chips, etc.
G. Trunk spoiler
H. Repaint
2. Interior
A. Roll Cage including padding and net
B. Fire suppression system
C. 6-point safety harness
D. Gauge and switch panel
3. Trunk
A. Methanol fuel system (Cell, pump, stainless braid to and from engine)
B. Wiring mods (HD cable from alt to batt, connections to gauges, Charging links in
trunk lid)
C. Air boxes in quarters (with duct work from NACA duct openings and turbos)
D. Nitrous oxide bottle installation with remote opener and transducer operated

would 25k be enough to replicate the Mclaren LS? oh my.

otherwise I would just keep the outside totally stock gen1 with the baddest internals possible and go hunt AMG's

You can get in AMG and drive from LA to New York without a problem. Good luck driving 150 miles without breaking down in a highly modded LS or any car for that matter. ;)

I drove to Maxton and back twice (760 each way) before we had the discussion regarding breaking and started trailering from then on. I don't remember exactly what I had on the car for miles when we started racing, but it was about 100K and I now have almost 148K. I don't expect the new engine, with stronger components, to be any less reliable. Almost every car I've owned for the past fifty years has been 'highly modified'. And I'm talking about daily drivers.

I'll finish up my list, above, sometime soon when I have the time to devote to it!

Well the 2000 LS we got, probably sit on a few thousand and fix odds and ends that come up and keep her stock and in great shape.

The rest of the money, I would invest it a little at a time into an indexed strategy annuity, invested in the s&p 500 to a 12% cap, and sit back and watch my money grow.:D

custom 40 inch rims. and a lift of course . i would not want any rubbing

Repaint it the same color, full audio system and new headunit, 5.0, super or turbo, new front seats, custom made rear view mirror that doesn't vibrate!, some suspension repairs, adjustable coil overs and hold on to the rest for maint.

Lol I thought that was just mine!

I'd do pretty much the same thing. 5.0 with 6 speed manual and upgrade everything else.

A lot of you guys sound like mad mike from pimp my ride, flames, 2 tone interiors, all you need is a hot tub and a popcorn machine to get his thumbs up.

Wouldn't you have had a 4% loss by now? Course, stocks are guaranteed to go up and down :)

Some of your prices are waaaay off. You won't do a supercharger for 1k and unless you know a body guy or go to Maaco your custom paint won't be that good for 2k

Nice to meet you newbie.:D I do a lot of work myself. AND I have a friend that owns and his own shop and does custom paint and body work. I get a sweet deal on the custom paint jobs. Because I show my LS at car shows and car cruises. My ride is his rolling business card.

Pictures of his work. Next time ask before you assume.

You can keep the hot tub and popcorn machine. But I have met "Q" from Wets Coast Customs.:p

Sorry for the small arse picture. I lost all my pictures. When my computer got that virus last month. I had to left this picture from my Cardomain page.

jeese rollin you don't know what you are talking about i mean you only have how many sponsors, jeese lol.
And it doesn't look like you have ever done something to a car before.... lol

I dunno, I think my list was realistic:
- 5.0 Coyote motor with accessories + harness and ECU $10K
- Finish the 8.8" rear upgrade with carbon-fiber shaft $1.5K
- Jag S-Type R H&R Springs, with matching bilstein shocks $2K
- Big brake upgrade $3K
- New Wheels $1K
- New Rubber $1K
- Custom Stereo Setup $2K
- Custom Bodywork and Paint $4K
- Angel eyes and HID Conversion (need new housings) $1K
- Tylenol and Booze to dull the pain $500

Don't think I was really off anywhere. And that price is assuming I just have the work done. A good chunk of it I would just do myself which makes it even less expensive.

Notice I said "unless you know a body guy" and it doesn't matter if you do you're own work you still will not supercharger or turbo that car for 1k. I'm pretty sure that I've built and done more turbo/charger setups than anyone on this board which is why I say that.

I mean I just spent 1k on the new Precision billet wheel turbo for my SR last week.. And that's with a pretty steep discount

Oh and I also paint cars and powdercoat for a living......

I did notice. I just wanted to make it clear. I have the paint and body work covered. http://www.sikpaint.net/

You did notice that is a 2008 Trailblazer SS with LS2 in it and not the Lincoln LS I would supercharge? Lets just say I know the right people.;) "cough" Sponsors "cough"

Sent you a PM.

re-paint triple black, gen 2 bumper and headlights, add sunroof, replace my 20's with some 18in ccw wheels with mt/et streets, lower about 2-3in, now for the fun... idc what itd take i want a dohc 4.6 fully built with forged internals along with a whipple suppercharger, 6 spd manual tranny, built 8.8 rear with 4:10s, full suspension upgrade with coil-overs. full slp exhaust from headers back to slp exahaust tips..

6 speed conversion, LSD, 06 front end conversion, build engine with noble m400 internals then turbo it. If I had the money left after that(which I think I would) I'd get custom hideaway gauges and new soft leather. Then rims, staggered probably 18's. I'd do it in that order. If I still had more money left I'd spend in on cleaning up the interior and getting spare parts stocked up.

I became all sorts of aroused when I saw the pic of that turbo LS last night, There's not much information on it at all.

Yes there is.....you havent seen it but its been posted here before and even the owner posted.

Pushes over 750hp to the rear wheels, its an aluminator engine.

also i'm pretty sure that is a pro-charger set up not turbo either way its awesome.

and it doesn't matter if you do you're own work you still will not supercharger or turbo that car for 1k.

sure you can, two years ago i helped a friend of mine put a blower on his super budget fox. did a little junk yard digging to find a low mile M90 off of a SC for $250, a FMIC off of a wrecked EVO for $50 (it did need to have one of the side repaired) a bunch of 3" piping from a factory exhaust off of a heavy duty truck for $25, and some metal stock to fab up brackets and misc stuff for less $100. the car already had a bottle so the fuel system was all set, the blower is self contained so there is no oil plumbing. all in all just a little over $400.

now will it preform as well as a $5k bolt on kit? no. does it make a hell of a lot of more power for super cheap? you better believe it, good enough to run a 12 flat.
