When my mark gets back from the shop im going to put her up for sale. What do you think i should be looking to get?

If you dont know my car. It has 68k org mi. less than 2k on genos tranny, new tires, like new condition with exception of bumper fade, MSD wires, new water pump, new t-stat, less than 7k on new air suspension (all components), less than 1k on new brakes and roters. Im sure theres more, i just dont recall right now. And to sweeten the deal, ill install a cd player headunit from kennwood iv had lying arround (still in box), if the price is right.

What do you think i should expect? Id certiantly like to get atleast $5k. Think i can make that? Wheres the best place to advertise, ebay? autotrader?

I ran it through the Kelley Blue book and got $3900, in excellent condition. Genarally mods/ maintenance recently performed dont do too much the value of a car to the buyer. I dont know if you would even get many calls if you asked over $5000.

Dude, I didn't think anyone else in the world was as pumped as you to have a Mark VIII, whats the deal?

That was $12,000 ago.

I think what im gonna do is put it on ebay with a starting bid of 4000, and a B.I.N. of 5000.

kelly blue book does not work any more they use nada now. they say around 6875. check nada.com

why are you dumping the car?

What broke, or what suddenly became available to you.

Certainly NOT 5 grand. Lincoln's don't have any resale value as it is. Then you add in the "kid who beat the living s h i t out of the car" factor, and you'll see half that

If you put it on eBay you could get a lucky auction and hit $5000 but I doubt it. Your lower miles might bring you closer. How are the seats, no rips or large worn out spots?

Make sure it is clean and shinny, the pics you post are your best seller.

Good luck... What you want to hit are people who don't know what a Mark VIII is worth. People on this board or other Lincoln boards won't pay that much for a Mark VIII. I wouldn't pay much more than $3000 maybe $3500 for the lower miles, because I know that there are Mark VIIIs out there in very good condition that I can get for that price.

The overheating thing is the last straw for me. Iv replaced everything i could think of, short of rebuilding the motor.

Na, nothing came up, its just time for a change. Mabey in my next life ill get one

i was figguring that i wouldnot be able to get anywhere near what i want on here, so i was gonna sell it on ebay to the "dont know what that is but it sure is shiney" croud.

The interior is in mint condition (- drivers seat rumples and worn stearingwheel) no rumples in the other seats. the exterior is beautiful minus one scratch and slightly faded bumper

and, i dont think ill be adding the "beat to hell" advertising point in it. Besides, everything that was beat to hell is new now, and hasent even had a chance to be beat to hell, lol.

I would have a a few tests done to see if it is a headgasket or not. I don't remember, but did you replace the radiator?

no posi

didnt replace the rad.
i took it to lincoln to get the codes pulled and a compression test to see if the headgasket is kaput, but i need to replace the coolant crossover tube, and im waiting on one of two members to get back to me about gettin one.

Hopefully ill have the part by christmas.

There is one here in the junkyard, it's not more than 50-60 miles from you. PM me if you want to know where.

When you finally properly burp the system and the heating problem is resolved, why sell the car? At that point, you won't be able to replace it with anything nearly as great for what it'll be worth.

Hmmm...

Two things...

1) You have been talking all this about getting a Supercharged Built Motor... what happened????

2) You have been advertising that you BEAT THE CRAP out of that car... If anybody with half a brain does any research on that you are SOL...

Don't advertise LvC when you sell it...

I think you would be better off keeping it and getting something new... You are going to eat your hat on this one

Yeah scott, id definatly like to know where that yard is!

I know i wont be able to get something as refined as a mark8 for the money, but i can not justify the expenses of owning this car anymore with that reason. Besides, im in college, and i have a whole life ahead of me. I want to be able to set aside some money instead of pouring it into the car. Granted i could stop now and drive real nice, and have a decent car to cruse arround in for a few years, but i want to be able to do work to/improve/customise my vehicle, and to do that with a mark is impossible given my goals. (not to mention the very limited gains for the money, and the fact that id trade off any good the car has for the gains too) Dont get me wrong, i think the mark8 is a wonderful car, but its just not the car for me right now. mabey when im out of college (4+ years) ill get another one for business purpouses, but its just too darn expensive.

Yeah i was planning on the supercharged motor deal, but i laid out my plan on paper and compaired the gains with the financial end of it, and its just too darned much for me right now. Granted there is something to be said for being "diffrent" but i just cant afford to be THAT diffrent now.

Yeah, i am in love with the car, which is why i keep suckering myself into keeping it every time something happens. I just can not justify the expense anymore. I prolly fixed everything that could go wrong with the car, and i know im gonna sell it and someone will have years of problem free driving, but im just not willing to take the risk anymore

and yeah, im not advertising LvC with the car, lol.

(also im getting raped in the A$$ on insurance too) ill be able to buy another mark in 5 years for what i got this one for, with just the savings on insurance alone.

what are you paying lol? I'm 17 I only pay $80 a month

If you list it on eBay becareful how you list your mods, because the "I don't know what that car is croud" will think it's had the crap beaten out of it and that is why you are selling it. Also those who do know what that car is will know you have beaten the crap out of it.

IMHO.... I'd see what is wrong with it. Get it fixed, and pocket all money you would put into something else. You are not going to get enough out of it to buy something else that you will be happy with for the time being. You will have to take out a loan and make payments.

Plus You know you'll be beating the crap out of the next car you buy also and will be doing more damage to it than you will to the Mark VIII, because the car won't be able to take it. So then you will have payment and repair cost also. Deeper in the hole when you graduate.

Fix the Mark VIII and don't drive so recless - or get a GEO Metro - no power no Temptation to beat the crap out of the car.

im payin $2300 a year!
(aprox $190/mo)

Yeah i understand that i wont be able to get something comprable, but im seriously concidering throwing in the towel on the performance car front. Im Looking at the K5/10 chevy blazers (pre 88). Id rather have something useful. Sure its fun to tool arround, but it just makes so much more sense, for my lifestyle, to get a truck/suv. I do a lot of camping/boating/hauling/getting building supplies from homedepot, and a truck/suv would be much better suited to that than a mark8. I know ill be able to definatly afford the trucks im interested in, so im not too worried about that, just gotta make sure i get as good as i can find.

yeah, i wasnt realy planning on listing mods, since there arent realy any on the car. The most id say is, heavy duty trans to replace the weak factory trans. Thats about the most major thing anyways.

i dont beat the crap out of every car i drive, just the mark, because it needs it. I wont be beating up on any new car/truck.

I was just giving that fatherly advice. My daughter is in college and having car woes too. She finally settled for a Saturn SL 2. Good Gas mileage and in great shape. Nice car for her right now. No payments!

She wanted a Mitsapieceof:q:q:q:q Eclipse. Has a 1991 Camero that need a gear head to keep it working. Not a bad car but it's not for her.

The way you have been posting it seemed like you enjoyed taking a vehicle to it's limits and a little beyond.
