Some states are trying to legalize marijuana, and may succeed.
What happens when one smokes this weed?
Does it do the same damage to the lungs and the rest of the body that cigarettes are guilty of doing?
What about the ama, and the ahs and the american cancer society?
They have been quick to claim cigarettes are harmful and cause lung cancer.
What about weed?
Will smoking it also cause lung cancer?
If so, it is strange not one of these organization( at least as far as I can tell) have not come out in opposition to smoking marijuana.
Which way is it?
Bob.

What are the common side effects of marijuana use?
The following are some of the common side effects of using marijuana:

* Trouble remembering things
* Slowed reaction time
* Difficulty concentrating
* Sleepiness
* Anxiety
* Paranoia (feeling that people are "out to get you")
* Altered time perception
* Red, bloodshot eyes

Using marijuana for a long time makes some people lose interest in school, work, relationships and other activities. It may also cause legal problems. Using marijuana can be especially dangerous in certain situations, such as when you are driving, because your reaction time is slower. This make it more difficult to react to a dangerous situation, which could cause an accident.

How can marijuana affect me physically?
The following are some of the common physical effects of marijuana:

* Tremors (shaking)
* Nausea
* Headache
* Decreased coordination
* Breathing problems
* Increased appetite
* Reduced blood flow to the brain
* Changes in the reproductive organs

Like tobacco, marijuana contains many chemicals that can hurt the lungs and cause cancer. One marijuana cigarette can cause more damage to the lungs than many tobacco cigarettes because marijuana has more tar in it and is usually smoked without filters.

LOL maybe you *need* to slow down your R/T

* Altered time perception LMAO

Never been into it myself, however, my grandmother has been smoking the stuff for about forty years and she's as sharp as extra sharp cheddar.

Maybe it makes you sterile?

If so, I'll start! :lol:

Oh...maybe that was it.
it slowed down the run, so I could acurately judge the stripe and keep track of my ET down to the ten thousandth of a second.

I guess it gave me an unfair advantage

I am sure if pot was legal the AMA and the American Cancer Society would come out against it.

Some states are trying to legalize medical marijuana.

As a treatment for cancer Pot does wonders for some after chemotherapy, it kills the nausea and gives an appetite.

Chemotherapy is nasty bad....if it works let the people who want it smoke it.

It will always be around, just like prostitution, might as well legalize it and tax it.

The only things I could think off the top of my head...
If it were to be legalized, it should carry the same penalty as a DUI. I'm not sure how they'd detect it, which is problematic most likely.
Nobody would be allowed to wear hemp. I HATE hippies and stoner types.

Everybody smokes weed... and everybody knows it....

I have never in my 71 years, and I fully expect in the next twenty five or so years, I will never.
Maybe I am living in a vacume, but I have never understood why people need marijuana, or for that matter booze.
Neither of these posed any temptation too me, and trying to understand why anyone would want to puff on a nasty smelling piece of grass , or guzzle down some nasty tasting crap in a bottle, and call it enjoyment.
I just don't get it.
Bob.

I don't smoke or drink either... lol...

That being said a TON of people smoke pot... tons!

Never smoked, cigs or otherwise.

Marijuana should be legalized just like the seatbelt law should be repealed.

It's our lives, GOVERNMENT - GET OUT!

so who will get sued when little Johnny gets black lung from toking to much reffer, ya know cause the ads and the evil corperations made us do, big tabacco won't be around anymore that will be outlawed somehow.

I don't use marijuana either, but the country was doing fine before the 20th century progressives started banning drugs and alcohol.

We need to repeal the big government nanny state and give people back the freedom to destroy themselves as they wish. But we can't do that if everyone is financially responsible for the health care and basic wants and needs of the other person.

And we shouldn't look at drugs as a source of "tax revenue," because that's a way of using tax policy to dictate behavior. Federal sin taxes aren't right either.
