Whining noise from Park to Gear

Usually only once a day, or when the car hasn't been driven in 6+ hours, I get a whining sound that is very quick when engaging in a gear from Park (reverse generally).

Any ideas?

Do you know where the sound is coming from?

Hard to tell. It's short and high-pitched. I would say centered left/right and center-to-front of car.

Not real sure what to tell you about that. Might be the shift solenoid in the transmission. If its only once a day I don't think its anything to worry about though.
