Getting back to the original discussion......... what it boils down to is that the president should be chosen by what decisions they make and what issues they support. Not because of what religion they do or don't practice! Personally I don't care who the person is as long as they are trying to make the best decisions for the country as a whole.

Actually freaked me out a bit. No, I didn't add some cooking oil and fry it up. Kind of lost my appetite there.
And the issue about Obama is not about his religion. It is the fact that the guy is weak and will make a terrible President. He has no backbone and has demonstrated that throughout his life.
I guess I need a President who has balls, even if it wears a dress suit and has kankles.

won't argue that because I don't know much about him but personally I think he has a good chance just because he appeals to the younger crowd. Nothing but a popularity contest. We'll get a president based on looks/personality then actual content because the damn voters are too lazy to look up any background and determine for themselves who the best candidate is.

Wasn't there some talk about scientinsts being able to culture Stem cells from an alternate source? I can't remember much about it, it was a few months ago. And since idngaf about this issue either way, I didn't pay much attention to it.

So what is inevitable is that we are going to make a disastrous mistake at the box office that will lead to the election of a President who will catastrophically harm this country because our media and education system has successfully dumbed-down the electorate.
That's just great. Let's give all the illegal aliens full voting rights. Let's let anybody walk up to any poll booth without having to show ID. Let's turn this country into one of opportunity for all into one where we steal from the rich ($40,000/yr income) and give to the poor and those unwilling to put in an honest days wage for an honest days work.

but........at what point does this matter anyway? We all know we are constantly chosing the lesser of the evils. We all know that most of these candidates tell you what you want to hear and do what they want when the get in office. At what point do the people really make a difference?

Ya, everytime I watch Jay Leno do one of his Jaywalking segments, I am reminded how many truly stupid people we have in this Country.
Hopefully most of them don't vote.Remember all the people that voted for Ross Perot and James Stockdale? People voted not only for Ross Perot but decided that it would be OK to put a living dead guy next in line to the Presidency. Scared the crap out me and we were lucky to have dodged that bullet. Can you imagine what a joke Ross Perot would have been? Yikes.

I've always resented Ross Perot for, among other things, thrusting James Stockdale into that position so rapidly and with so little preparation. The guy is an American hero, and because of that ridiculous campaign (that cost GHW Bush the Presidency) Stockdale was reduced to a punchline.

I remember that line like it was yesterday. Forever etched in my mind. That line pretty much did them both in. That and when he asked the moderator during the debate to repeat a question because he didn't have his hearing aid turned up.
Just the fact that Perot picked him indicated that Perot was heading for a disaster should he have become President.
And yes, I wish someone like him would run as a liberal independent to steal some votes from the Dems and hand the Repubs and America a critical victory in our War on Terror in the '08 election.

1) He is far too liberal to unite this Country.
2) I do not trust his upbringing. An apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
3) He appears to me to be a Muslim sympathizer as indicated in his vote against taking action against Saddam Hussein even though Saddam was violating every UN resolution and surrender treaty he had agreed too.

2) I disagree as that being 'always the case' and I am not willing to "blame a child for the "sins of the father".
3) Those votes don't necessarily mean they where religiously biased.
