i was told the worst accident you will be in , will happen within 5 minutes from your house.

not challenging your personal beliefs but they also add benefits:

http://www.autotech.com/catalog/schroth.htm
-Furthermore, the high load stresses experienced with seat belts in the head and neck area during a head-on collision (the HIC comparison values) are reduced up to 50%
-Submarining can occur with all types of safetybelts in a head-on collision, which accounts for about 60% of all accidents. Schroth has developed the asm system. asm is an acronym derived from the initials of anti-submarining. The asm system developed by Schroth utilizes the inherent stretch characteristics of the belt material and incorporates a unique patented energy conversion device located on the inside shoulder belt. The danger of Submarining is minimized using the Schroth asm system.
-Schroth Harnessbelts are the only shoulder harnesses produced anywhere that have been certified to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards performance requirements (FMVSS 209).
-This means they are the only street-legal sport shoulder harnesses available. In addition, all Schroth shoulder harnessbelts are tested and approved by Germany's TUV and meet current European ECE 16 standards.

- I only wear my Schroth while autocrossing - I'm much more likely to hit something than roll - in my opinion.

Just thought Id add that I agree with you 100% Quik and we are 60 days apart in birthdays. :tmi:

I wear mine all the time. Ex tanker driver... Like someone said earlier don't need a reason to be pulled over....... They may find something else..

ALWAYS, like others I've been in some major accidents and they've save my bacon.

My dad worked for the California Dept of Transportation starting in the early 50's and saw so many accidents he started getting seat belts put in his cars back then.

Make sure your passengers wear their seat belts too, for your safety! An unsecured body being flung about in your car is a serious hazard. How'd you like to be whacked by a 100+lb. bag of wet cement?

Here ye Here!! No one rides in any of my vehicles without strapping up!!

Every day, every trip...its Indiana state law! It didn't used to be mandatory and it took me a while to get in the habit, but now it is just automatic.

Ive been in accidents and all, but honestly I remember to put my seatbelt on maybe 45% of the time, sometimes I do and sometimes I dont.

i always do & when my boyfriend gets in my car, i make him wear his. if he puts up a fight, i just start to pull over & he knows i WILL pull over & wont move till he puts it on. :N

My concerns really don't apply to autocrossing. I'd be shocked if you rolled an LS in an autocross. Other than that, my opinion remains the same. I'm not saying the Schroth belts don't work well. Just the opposite! But, the point remains that you shouldn't wear 4,5,6, or 7-point systems without a roll bar/cage! Ask anyone who instructs at race tracks.

airbags werent designed to replace the belts they are only safe when used together. Oh, and I always use my belt

Always buckle up, I feel naked w/out the belt. Plus it takes an extra few seconds to do, which is an extra few seconds my car can warm up before I just go. Probably did not need my belt in my first accident which was last week because I was going probably 8 miles an hour and didn't really move, was kind of cool watching in slow motion a truck get popped in the air and thrown sideways though.

I agree, I always buckle up. If anyone in my car isn't, I just slam the brakes when no one is behind me to let them know they should.

And for all those who don't buckle up for some reason, I don't think you would want to be without your belt in a crash like this.

i always wear mine, i've rolled 2 cars and been in head on collisions, saved my life more than once.

Always wear mine, and everyone in the auto also.
Many years with the local Vol. Fire Service, about 30 PI's(Personal Injury)
accidents per year, probably 30% rollovers, and I have seen alot of people
wearing them get at worst an ambulance ride. But without them, normally
the best they can expect is a helicopter ride and that is not very good odds.

Buckle Please, especially in my nieghborhood.
Thanks.

hey thanks for scaring me into wearing my seatbelt all the time...call me a fool but when a hot girl is in my ride...i just cant do it :Bang

What difference does it make if you have a female in your car or not? I know you are probably trying to get play while you drive but that can easily be done with it on...trust me I know.

Well shes hot until her face is half in the glove box and her legs are 30 feet outside the passenger window.

Just click it, if your buddies say something or clown you, well... they dont drive nice lincolns do they, so what they say is actually fairly irrelevant if it isn't pro-seatbelt :D

Why are you telling me that? I never and I mean never drive without my seatbelt it feels so strange. I was telling stateproperty that if he wanted to get play in his car to still buckle up.

Are the people that dont wear seatbelts disabling that warning chime?

No, ignoring it. It probably goes off after awhile but I've never had mines off olong enough to find out.

i started wearing my seat belt everyday about a month ago. ecspecially when i got 2 seat belt tickets in 3 days.. lol.. i had to learn the hardway!!!

My wife and the kids aswell where there seatbelts at all times no if and or buts about that!! You could be the best driver in the world but it's not the same for the other people around you!! Rather be safe than fly through the winshield!!

Seatbelts, they just make sense!!!

:soapbox: I never travel without them, and my passengers are required to wear them as well. I don't lean so much to the degree that they'll save me in a traffic accident, as I do because I assume more control over the car. I drive fast and I have better ability to control the Mark through curves, and I don't need to be slipping and sliding all over the leather seats.

Then there's the unfortunate aspect of having been in a pretty nasty accident on the expressway, I survived luckily only because I was driving a tank, a Lincoln Mark V, 22 feet of vehicle, as well as over 5'000 lbs. I, however totalled the vehicle I hit. Seat belts don't just save lives, they're just common sense
