Why do you like this car?

Please ...

I'm fully prepared to be banned over this, I'm as sick and tired as many others with respect to this MKS crap I have to filter through.

If the clean up includes me, so be it.

btw: how's your LS doing today ? I was happy to get back in mine after not being able to drive it for nearly two weeks. (out of town, very out of town) Needed a boost though, new battery still on that list.

I hope you don't, as well Fla02LS. You guys are cool.

My LS? My 2002 is iight. Runs well. I broke the plastic holder on the rear license plate on the trunk Lid from too much bass... It literally shattered the plastic that the screw feeds into.. So my rear plate is held on mostly by 1 screw (hence I took all that bass out of it and installed it in the 2005 now)

Otherwise, 2002 is kickin strong. I just fear the cold winters, as its seen 10 freezing winters already. Gonna get it rust proofed again by Krown to prep it for 3 months of torture and Hell. -_-

I am fully aware how an Ignore List works!

You are pissing people of with you MKS BS, don't you get it ?
I'm very sure you do and you continue to taunt others with it, right down to your sig.

It's causing others to have a lack of interest in this forum, sure I'm not the only one on that fence.

but yeah, MKS away ... I got better things to do then to return here and continue reading crap about non related LS threads.

There were some things I liked about the MKS and then some things I didn't like,
now, I just can't stand it because of you ... and this keeps up, I got no use hanging around here.

plenty of LS information all over, not just here.

I'm not planning on it. I still have plenty of LS ownership and experience to offer here. Crazy that some can go postal over something to trivial.... bold faced huge caps and all. Kinda scary actually.

Cool & thanks, a bit too much bass huh ? not bad not bad.

Myself I'm looking at storing mine, it's in great shape and I still have plenty of things I want to do to it.
Doing some light cosmetics repairs over the winter. Got a couple of little issues to resolve on the interior.
Lack of time is a constant challenge.

Plus I take any repairs as they come (for now)

Exhaust I would like redone that's for sure.

It would be a dream to store it, especially in the icy weather. Dump trucks dropping salt on the road, doesn't help these cars..
I would get it rust proofed by Krown. Soooo worth it, even if your not in a northern state with bad winters.

You should start a progress thread on what you do on it over the winter :D

Besides that, what plans you got for upgrades? Is it tuned?

No not tuned but would like a little later on, mines got 151K (kms) on it and
although it's in great shape, I'm a perfectionist and still working on the small stuff. Like others I fear the fix or repair daily issues that wil come up but it's going to get done until the wife threatens divorce.

List is too long to list but I see my front end looking like the real Mclaren,
I have to revisit the bumper cut outs and the Bassani mufflers need to be redone in order to sit higher up.

I've done the sway bar bushings, end links, COP & plugs, exhaust, tint, new lenses, debadged the rear, couple of other little things, like intake KN filter, with Hite headshield.

Looking to go, with some nice wheels next summer and drop the front end.

Front and rear bumper covers, trunk lid plus mirrors are getting repainted over the winter. working on doing a custom spoiler with the third brake light in it.

Upgrading the brakes and such but gotta leave some room for break downs like heating system and timing chain tentioners I'm sure.

keeping an eye on the valve cover gaskets also.
no leak yet but expect it.

fun fun fun ...

you ?

Wow, all this because I asked why you like your car? When mine runs, it kicks butt, but when something goes wrong it never stops at one thing. Case in point, I let the battery go down because it sat in the garage due to an overheating problem, and now with a fully charged battery the starter spins but won't engage. This car has a measly 120 thousand miles on it. 16000, for real? I would take a fraction of that for this POS.

Sorry to hear you are having the issues. Maybe your next purchase works out more to your satisfaction.

To go with the original thread's title... I'm really not all that big a fan of the Lincoln LS, but it does have things I like.

The main reason is my wife doesn't have to take a handful of pain pills before going for a ride in it. That was our overriding criteria for any car which unfortunately meant front wheel drives were also possibilities. Lucky for us though, EVERY front wheel drive we test drove rode too rough, even certain front wheel drive crackerboxes which shall go unnamed. Nerves being pinched by a collapsed disk are an excellent indicator of ride comfort, and will override the hell out of any "it's new so it must be better" thinking.

That being said, the next thing I like about it is, being a rear wheel drive car, it feels right when driving it. The steering isn't heavy on it, I don't feel like I'm being pulled, and I don't have to override my normal instincts when driving it.

I also like that it's pretty quick for having such a small little engine in it. It pulls well at highway speeds and can get over 100MPH pretty quickly. It's really a pretty tame car and far from the fastest thing I've ever had, but impressive when you take cubes vs pounds into account.

The antenna integrated into the rear glass was also a great idea. I wish they'd put this kind of antenna on all cars. My truck had the exterior stick antenna at one time, but vandals broke it off the truck and when they did they broke the mounting stud. I've never bothered to replace it because we normally use CDs anyway, but I wish there was an option to just put an in-glass antenna in my truck like my LS has.

All in all though, we'll probably sell it next year when the wife's back has recovered from her spinal fusion surgery. I'm a tall, broad shouldered man and just don't fit in the cabin very well.

There was one thing that was very surprising to me. I really like the heated and cooled seats. This is the first car I've ever had that had them mainly because I've just never been interested in luxury cars before but I really like the seats.

I'm a 7-10 year old car guy, not going to buy anything newer than that. I don't see the need for extended warranties or full coverage insurance. If it breaks I'll fix it, if it get wrecked, I'll part it out and get another. I honestly don't see any car being a good value over $5-10k and can't understand why anyone would be proud to own a brand new car or pay so much money just to move from place to place.

Again per my car. 106k on the clock no drama. If it 'breaks' I'll fix it. I spent my money on education (service manuals) so I'll know the quality of the work that gets done, etc. I like the car but it concerns me with the 'throw away' build philosophy on any newer than 2000 car. Velcro holding the headliner up? Push clips holding the interior together? Mechanically other than the wonky electrical system I'm not concerned of anything in the drive line.

FLA02, I hope you enjoy your new to you MKS but I really don't need to read about it in every thread. It's a shame that it's not supported by a community like the LS is but then I guess it doesn't evoke an owners emotions like the LS does either. Good luck.

you ?

I can tell you like working on intricate things. Every little bit you change, makes it that much more custom. Love it.

For me Its all about the Audio. Im an Audiophile, and even tho I keep saying "I finally completed my system" I totally know that's BS and im gonna change it somehow to make it sound better.

For mods, their simple but effective. Intake, Exhaust, and Tune. Also, eIbach springs to lower it 1 inch ( have to install them). I was thinking about a stall converter upgrade at some point, with a tranny cooler. My intake is custom with nitrous, I Just have to run the Lines. Looking for a GOOD DEAL on nitrous, if anyone knows?

TUNE
Anyways as I understand it, the Tune is the best thing you can do for this car. It makes the tranny shift faster, engine run more critical, And gives a little more HP. From what I am told, its healthier for the tranny to run this way, and by making the LS more aggressive, you 'should' get more longevity out of it.
From my stand point, I love my tune's! So I can say, it Definitely gave me DOUBLE what my exhaust and intake combined gave me.

BigRigLS, if you are interested, PM me and i'll find the owner of this tune and hook you up. He can explain it more in depth.

When you start out your sentence stating you had a "myriad of issues" and then say the same thing three times; "overheating", you kinda put your foot in your mouth. It sounds like you had someone work on it three times and not fix it right the first time. Sure I've had to drop a little bit of money in my LS to keep it going well, but there are a couple of things I need to point out, 1) it's a luxury car, and has a lot of bells and whistles that at some point may need to be fixed or replaced, this isn't a problem with the car per-se, just the fact that it has more "stuff" than a normal econo-box has (DCCV, heated/cooled seats, high-end audio (for it's time), etc...) I have owned an Infiniti Q45 and once it hit 80K miles it started falling apart, took a whole bunch of money to get it right again, and then lasted for another 80K without much fuss before the tranny died. This car has over 170k on it (I bought it at 150K, and have all maintenance records), other than changing the normal stuff out (plugs/cops, cats (due to bad cops) and vcg's, along with some suspension bushings and tie rod ends) it has been trouble-free. If I were to write a pros/cons list of owning this car, I would have far more pros than cons.

For instance, I love the way it looks (ever since they came out I wanted one). I love the way it drives, the comfort level inside, the sound quality is great (I have the THX), plenty of power for me, and I just feel good driving it. Knowing that I got such a good deal on this car (I paid less than 6000) and that I have more features than most brand new cars 4x the cost also helps, not to mention the timeless style.

All in all, it's been a great investment for me, it's not a Honda Civic or Ford Focus, but it wasn't meant to be. And in the end, if you enjoy your car and you take pride in it, that's all that really matters.

Very well stated!

My least favorite thing about the LS is the lack of interior room to properly bang my gf.

Cunnilingus is relatively easy tho.
First:: you Fold the rear seats down, and have her sit on top facing the front (giving her some height).
Second:: you then retract the driver and passenger seats down, almost creating a Bed ;)
Third:: You now then put your knees on the seats, (facing the rear window) Have her open up and enjoy!

LS = Perfect Love Machine!

LOL. My girl told me the same thing when i bought the car "Lets break it in". A couple horn honks and shifter-in-legs later.. we just went inside.

The backseat is somewhat tight but still doable. Gotta have them facing up, with their legs towards the roof.....just make sure, don't f#ck up the headliner. :)

Sure, it's doable. But nowhere near the space required for a proper... session. I would say just take it to the hood of the car, but ever since I got into detailing, that's out of the question.

I take it you havent engaged in coitus in the back of your ls...

Nope. I am 45 yo. My joints won't put up with that stuff anymore. However, back in the day, I did it in my Escort and my Mustang.
