Will an 02 LS engine work with a 00?

I have a 2000 LS, and the timing snapped and damaged everything, and 00 engines are very hard to find. I was told a 2002 engine that are more common, will work with this car....

Any suggestions???

They are the same, so yeah. a gen 2 would not though, 03-06. Well it would, but not as nice as a gen 1

Its gen1 I would assume so. If you tried to put up into a gen2 it wouldnt work, they have higher gears than we do,

G1 3.38 Gears
G2 is 3.53 Gears?

Yes - an 2002 motor should work in a 2000 model car. If you are keeping the PCM from the 2000 car, you may have to have it reflashed with more current PCM code - to account for some minor differences.

The transmissions are the same 5R55N - so nothing changed there. the 2002 actually picked up a few more hp due to a redesigned airbox.
