2001 LS V6 Sport- 44,000 miles and 3 months on the warranty. I just bought it a month ago. So far the rear window motor broke sucking my window into ebiss... dealer fix. No biggie. Now that I've had the car a month I've noticed it always sounds "Windy Out". I hear wind noise leaking in both rear windows towards the back of the windows (at first I thought it was just the one that broke). Also, it sounds like there is window noise coming from my windshield. Over all the car is generally a smooth ride but it has more wind noise than my g/f's 2003 honda civic

Also, being that this is a new car to me I don't know the shift points but it seems kinda odd. One it seems to go into reverse immediately but somewhat harshly, same with drive. Second the car goes to about 40mph in first gear and shifts to second and goes 40-60mph, then on to third. I think the tach drops maybe 1000 rpm between first and second. Is that normal?

Are these normal or known problems? Did a search. Either of these warranty or TSB's?

Thanks in advance... newb city.

Can't help you with the wind but your tranny either needs a pcm update or the solenoid pack and valve body has or is going bad. Have that taken care of as soon as possible.

The transmission is close-ratio, so there isn't much of an RPM drop between shifts. It's pretty strange. I freaked out when I first got a ride in one of these cars 5 years ago, and most people comment on that (feature) when they are in my car. I would check on your PCM rev through the dealer as suggested though!

I had some wind noise that was annoying in my car too. I cleaned all the seals with water and a little car wash and then applied a very small amount of vaseline with my finger and it cured the back window noise for me. The driver's side window makes some noise, but I found that someone had damaged the weather strip there. Just do a good visual inspection of all the seals. I am sure there are products out there to clean weather seals, I just tried something that has worked for me in the past with T-Tops.

Thanks - I'll have the dealer check the transmission. Any keywords I should mention to get him to check the PCM?

As was said, the small drop in RPMs on the 1-2 upshift is normal.

As for the wind noise, my 2000 is extremely quiet. I would be sure to have the dealer check the alignment of the rear door glass, especially considering one has been replaced. My only wind noise is from a bad passenger front door gasket that was damaged by the previous owner.
