My driver side window stopped worked suddenly last week. Out of nowhere the window would go up but slightly off track, then the next time I tried to lower it, I heard a bang then the window fell all the way down :(

Massive pick warning, thumb doesn't show but the pic works

I got the window on the correct alignment to go up and down, but it feels like nothing is holding it up/down.. does anyone know what could be wrong?

Okay, the picture is big enough, but I still can't tell if the glass is still in the clamp or not.
Anyway, the regulator assembly has two metal cord that raise and lower the glass. The plastic bits that hold and guide the cords eventually break and the result is pretty much what you describe. The solution is to replace the regulator. It's not difficult to do.

I have a post on here somewhere with pictures of a broken regulator and a new one.

That's one of the cords from the broken regulator that I wrote about on your other thread.

So the regulator is completely broken? the cord can't be reattached or anything

This is what I need?

No, when the cord pops loose and you try to roll the window up or down, it tends to scar up the reel and do other damage. It's much less grief to just replace the regulator.
Yes, that looks like the right part.

You can try rockauto (may have lower price-goin by your smiley expression lol)

I got one for a 2000 from them, idk how much I paid tho. Its been 2 yrs since

Do I have the same deal if my rear pass window doesn't roll down, but falls a bit makes odd sounds but will roll back up? I've just left it up for now.

A 2000 ls.

Not sure about the back window (haven't had experience with the back), but it sounds like it

it wasn't the price.. I didn't know the lift mechanism was that complicated. When the regulator went bad on my Firebird, it was simple change.. this looks pretty complicated.

Last time i took apart the door when something similar happened i found a plastic "tab" had broke. The window itself has a hole in the bottom and sits in a U-shaped cradle. A little plastic cylinder holds the window in the U-shaped thing. The u-shaped thing goes up and down with the motor. If it comes loose the motor will move the cradle down faster than the window can fall due to gravity, thus resulting in the window becoming "off track". Dont know if that explanation helps. It was like a $5 part at the dealer if i recall.

I am not entirely sure what you are showing us in that gargantuan picture; you might want to consider describing it and sizing it down for us! ;)

Gargantuan? Do you have a 12 inch monitor :p.

Back on topic, I can't tell what's going on in the pic, and I can see the full size all at once lol.

The picture was really big at first. DrewSG went back and changed it before you saw it.

My driver side regulator JUST went out on me. Sucks because I'm waiting for my driver side interior door handle to get here. Looks like I get to drive the winter beater for a few days.

If you suspect that a plastic window regulator clip is about to fail (usually indicated by a creak or crackling noise when the window approaches the top of its travel), you can buy a new set of clips and put them in fairly easily without removing the entire regulator assembly from the door.
In my experience the plastic clips are the only thing that fails (the motors themselves rarely die).
Cost - about $20.00 on E-Bay

^Is this true? My driver side and passenger side front windows creak and moan pretty bad and I can't afford to have a broken window for a couple days. I've seen places other than e-bay for these clips but haven't really heard much info in them

Well, they certainly worked for me on my front passenger window. They appear to be made out of a tougher plastic than the factory originals (not sure if that is actually true - just going on the color of the plastic being slightly different).

They are not especially hard to put in, as you can figure it out by looking at the existing ones once you get the trim panel and sound deadening pulled off. The regulator assembly needs to be separated from the window and the retaining bolts loosened, but the actual regulator assembly does not need to be pulled out of the door. Replacing the clips is a bit fiddly but very do-able with a little patience and a helping hand.

What's the warranty? Autozone had it for 99 as well, and theirs come with a lifetime warranty.
