Worth the $600 I spent?

I just bought a 2003 Lincoln Ls but the weird thing is it

• has no check engine lights but runs rough
• titled in CT but I purchased in RI... Im from Mass... Mass Titles are easier to fill out!
• Has 170k but for $500 I couldn't resist

looks like a decent grab for 500 bucks!

as for it running rough, do a little searching, you can pretty much bet on the problem (or at least part of it) needing a new full set of coils and spark plugs (the originals are highly prone to failure) (and oddly enough, they tend to fail in a way that won't set off engine lights and the car can still run)

depending on how long it was driven running rough, it may also need new catalytic converters or a PCM...

03 LS 170K miles for 5bills, just needs some TLC and a nice clean up! Immediate fluid change all around. Working out the bugs may cost a little but she looks like a keeper.

For 700$ I'd let you part with it in my driveway (delivered!)

GLWR. Lots of help here, it may need a few of the basics, misfiring & overheating will be a part of that.

Thank you all!... I joined a while back in hopes of buying one of these before for $7500 with 50k... Done my research for awhile now... doing a complete tune up and scavenging the junk yards for the plastic interior pieces.. want the buttons to stay in one spot

so far I've driven it to test and see if it overheats and lets just say I'm lucky for now lol!

Still got my old faithful Mark Viii bought with 123k that was $1500 still needs an alternator and has rust developing everywhere.... still kicking strong at 150k

I bought an 01 with 150K for 850 on long island. interior/exterior was mint with the exception of a missing grill, and the tranny was completely rebuilt (with papers, from the dealer 5 years ago). All the car shops were telling him the engine was bad. I replaced the timing chain tensioners and re-timed the exhaust cams and car runs brand perfect. Good luck with yours.

So far I haven't found any rust... funny thing is the LS' I looked at before at the dealerships the cooled seats were inoperable...

Good steal.

The hood looks repairable. Unless there is a crease somewhere not pictured. Looks like it is just tweaked on the latch assembly and probably the hinges.


Folding mirrors and that interior is probably already worth 600. I would say fix it up and flip it or drive it.

Fixable indeed but ... salvaged color matched hood and self install might be more cost effective.

If you look at both pics showing either side of where the hood hinges are, they appear relatively evenly aligned on both sides. seems to me, the hood (and behinds) got pushed inwards and upwards on the left side. Something poked the grill and the bumper took a paint crack.

It can all be straightened out relatively easily, doesn't appear to be a hard hit. Loud1 has a tree we can chain it to and we'll take a little run at it in reverse, just a little tug. Maybe 4 Mph, wind direction factor depending.
