Y'all better go fill the tank up ASAP

Honestly anything over $5 per gallon could REALLY screw this country up if it stays that high. I mean think about it. In addition to the extra cost of simply driving to work the cost of EVERYTHING would go way up.

Food costs would go up.
The cost to ship items through the mail would go up.
Law enforcement and other government costs would go up.
General items in stores would go up in cost.
Much much more.

All of the above would be happening with people already being stressed by paying almost double the current price for gas. You get people saying "well buy a fuel efficient car or a hybrid if you don't like it". Well what if people can't afford a new car? Something's gotta give. Time to get to work developing our oil shale deposits IMO.

I agree. I just don't get it. I can't afford to buy a new car. I mean I could, but the payments would eat into my groceries, utilities, and gas. All my vehicles are paid for. And I like it that way. Even if I did buy some little POS Korean wrong-wheel-drive tin can death trap that got 40mpg, the fuel cost savings would be negated by the car payments that I didn't have before. So nope, I'll keep my old 20mpg Lincolns and my 18mpg Exploder and be happy that I'm not paying for a new car.

Gas went up from $3.07 to $3.38 here for 87. I love how they raise prices immediately even though the prices today are for April delivery.

Yep. It wewnt up to $3.29 for regular at the same Murphy USA station in Biscoe this morning. So it went up 20 cents in 24 hours.

I really don't see fuel > $4, Libya is going to simmer down within a couple of weeks... it would take something pretty spectacular to see $4 this year IMO.

im an s.t.s. (special transportation system)driver for miami dade county and we pay our own gas, about a year or so ago I was paying 30 bucks day...and now since my car has gotten older and more worn out and with the gas prices sky rocketing its costing me about 50 bucks a day to fill up. These gas prices are already killing me and I cant imagine it if it goes up to 5 bucks then ill be forced into changing careers...lol!!!! its sad how our government dont give a :q:q:q:q about us....but now when tax season comes you better pay your dues or else uncle sam comes knocking at your door.

I'm just waiting for the day when I have to call in to work a couple of days before payday and tell them I'm outta gas and don't have enough money to put enough in the car to get to work.:D

They don't care about little peons like us. Why should they? As long as their pockets are being lined and the rich are able to get richer, they could care less about anyone else. All they do is sit in their air conditioned offices in their leather chairs behind mahogany desks making stupid choices and uninformed decisions that adversely affect millions of Americans every single day. And they couldn't give a rat's a$$!

I think you're about to see something spectacular because $4.00 + is coming. Do you think Iran cruised over to Syria with two war ships just for the fun of it? We have Americans right now that have to get out of the way in the ferry that came to get them. Now, unless you run regular unleaded in your car, you're only about $0.60 to $0.70 cents away from seeing $4.00 and this has just gotten started.

that affect the middle class people like us....pretty soon the middle class is going to disappear and become part of the poor class.

ha what middle class?

distribution of wealth is so uneven its not even funny.

50K a year isnt now isnt the same as 20 years ago.

Yep. Frankly, IMO, Israel initially overreacted to Iran's visit of Syria. This is what Ehud Barak had to say on the matter:

"If they were bringing rockets or weapons or explosives to Hamas or Hezbollah, we would have probably acted against them. But they are just coming, with weapons on them, but they are coming with cadets, navy cadets, to visit a Syrian port,"

Not sure what you're referring to with the ferry thing...

I usually run regular in the Mark, but at the moment I'm beginning the teardown for the SC project, so I'm not going to have that option when it's running again. My Crown Vic likes regular just fine. Anyway, when I talk about gas prices, I'm talking about regular, because most of the country uses regular.

Why would you use regular in a mark? Ford doesn't recommend premium for no reason you know. It's like $3 more for premium and you get the peace of mind from not wondering if you're destroying your engine. Also you'll get better performance.

The bigger deal the buyers make of the issues in the middleeast, the worse it will be for us. Remember folks: This isn't the first rodeo over there. Peace has eluded the place for 5000 years or so... This is par for the course. In a sick twisted way, I'd like to see Iran rise up against that Ahmadinejad numbskull, which is possible pending the outcome of Libya and how the Iranian people recieve that. What country could be proud to have a man who makes Dubya look reasonable as a leader? I know what it would mean for OPEC, but if the sh*t's gonna hit the fan, why not make it a big one.

Because I know exactly how the fuels I use work in my car, with my driving style, in my location. I didn't see any knock sensor based timing retard in higher compression Northstar, and I don't see any in my Mark. KTHXBAI

$3.47 at the Murphy USA in Biscoe yesterday afternoon. $3.71 for 93 octane:eek: Funny thing is, 5 miles down the road at the Wilco/Hess in Candor, it was $3.29 for reg. WTF? I'm not driving my '96 Mark right now since I'm working on my mom's '97 Cougar 30th Anniversary. So I put regular in her car. My '96 Mark does..not...like...87 octane! She lets me know right quick if I don't give her the good stuff:) Spark knock, sputter, performance drop-off, and gas mileage falls off a cliff. Put 93 back in with some fuel injector cleaner and she's back to normal again. Go figure. Filled up the '97 LSC last night with 93 octane for $56 bucks. Good thing it wasn't on empty:D

The same gas I paid $3.65 for when I started this thread is now $3.89 this morning. I'm just glad the gauge is showing over full and I got it when I got it.

First time in 31 years and you believe this is a friendly visit? It may be friendly but Ahmadinejad knows what he's up to and he will benefit from all of this in the end. The ferry/ship went to Libya to get US citizens out of there. It docked at Libya, picked them up and then went out to sea and had to dock on a small island (due to weather conditions) and today it was able to finally start coming back home. The rest boarded air planes to get back. Now that "our own" are out of there, we might go in there. Depends on how big of a puss Obama is.

The oil fields in Libya are now in control of the rebels. That's as of right now. As for running regular in your car, that is completely your option and or preference. I myself can't bring myself to do it to my car. Either way, no matter what grade of gas your run, you will see $4.00 + for your regular. It's already there in some states right now.

Well the price of a barrel of oil went down at closing of the bell from 103.00 to 97.00.

On the way to work this morning and the Hess Station went from $3.09 for reg to $3.53 overnight.

Someone is seeing the light now lol. Expect these overnight rises on a daily basis in various states until it is in the $4 to $5 range. It's coming and no, nothing we can do about it but accept it.

This is because some gas stations are going ahead and price gouging now for their future deliveries. That $3.29 should be different tomorrow and also the $3.47 at Murphy. Murphy might stay steady for a day or so but not likely. The other will go up before tomorrow mid day.

As far as Iran floating on over to Syria, yes, it is a friendly visit between those two countries. It's the first time it's happened because the interim Egyptian government has now decided to allow Iranian warships through the Suez canal. Ahmadinejad isn't likely planning to start something with anyone/Israel soon, he is also having trouble with the folks at home. And while Obama could take the initiative, if anything I would expect a good old fashioned multinational coalition, like a UN or NATO operation, which doesn't have to be initiated by the US.

The oil fields in Libya being in the hands of the rebels means that the rebels won control over them before Gaddafi could destroy them. This is a good thing for global oil markets, as it means that the Libyan oil infrastructure can be brought back online without needing the time for long repairs.
