I haven't seen any posts on this so thought I'd share that the QS 173 is a smaller replacement for the PH 2 series filters. I understand that Motorcraft and Purolator have equivalents. Quite a bit easier to get in and out.
Will be out of town for the next 2 weeks but will post some pics when I get back...if I can figure out how to do a video with the audio might be even better in terms of diagnosing...
Update on what it isn't:
Fuel line, Sway bar links were done, I think the bags/shocks are OEM but someone prior to me has been mucking with the suspension because there is a distribution junction under where the air box sits and a air pressure gauge with a schraeder valve which I assume is for...
-Nothing in the glove box
-the air box isn't connected to the resonator or the car so I'll try securing that some how
-Octastar so no center cap rattle
-anti rattle clips in place
-the control arms were done so the bushings should be good.. will check again
- it was doing it before I changed...
Thanks for the suggestions. It is definitely the right front...unless the rear is chipping in too. Tie rod ends are nice and tight and so is the steering. I expected it to be either the the strut rod bushings or sway bar links but no such luck.
Here's hoping somebody has a suggestion for a right front rattle. I have replaced:
upper control arms and lower ball joints, both sets of strut rod bushings and the sway bar links and bushings and nothing has made a difference.
It doesn't sound like a rattle so much as as if something is...
Even used oil is better than no oil. I used to save tranny fluid for this purpose. There is some dispute about acids in used oil and of course the environmental aspect. Krown and Rustchek products are cherry scented Fluid Film is lanolin based...wet wool scented? All of these are available in...
Winter prep.
Where I live a lot of road salt is applied in winter and you either apply oil under spray annually as maintenance or sacrifice your car to the rust gods. I put the Mark away for the winter but my Townie gets sprayed religiously every year. I use silicone spray in the window tracks...
Hi Guys
I'm a long time getting back to this but I thought I owe Laser the satisfaction of knowing he had identified the problem correctly in the very first response...Buckeye deserves honorable mention because if I had checked the fuel pressure instead of just following the codes I could have...
iac
I had almost the identical problem and the iac was the culprit...see if you can get one off a car that is known to be working right and give it a try. At least that way you'll know for sure if the new part was good.
This is an attempt to upload pics of the problematic connectors. (my first attempt at this!)
The oval one is what I had on the car (98) the rectangular one is the new part...has anyone seen an oval connector for 98's?
Thanks
Hi Guys
I ordered on line and received a MAF for a 98 which has a rectangular connector on it. My car which is relatively new to me has an elliptical shaped connector for the MAF that goes up to a regular juntion on the side of the engine compartment. When I look at the pictures of 93 -95 MAF's...
Hi There
I'm looking for someone willing to ship to Canada. Need the one with an elliptical shaped connector.
...just out of curiosity do any of the Mark series use a rectangular one?...I bought one on line that looks like the right housing but the connector was rectangular.
Thanks.
There are probably lots of these around but I found the ability to compare sizes and use different rear ends nice.

Hi Jay
Once again I'm not sure if you're getting my PM's. If all is well and you have the time I would appreciate getting the parts we discussed... I'm having multiple issues and thought I would start with the COP's.
Thanks
