Hi.
I'm the "ex" owner of that 97 pearl mark 8! And receive BBC North because we live right in that area!!
Do you really want to come back here?! A foot of snow at the moment!! Whats the attraction with BBC North?
Fancy a holiday house swap?!!!
Andy.
I'm over 50 (just!) and I think the car and the wheels are just stunning. No, stunning doesn't justify it. Wish I could think of the right word,...........piggin' gorgeous...........will that do?
You have my utmost admiration sir!
Andy.
Had a PO340 code today! Camshaft position sensor circuit failure.
Cleared the code and unplugged the sensor and plugged it back in. Not reoccured and drives well.
Decided to scope it to have a look at the signal.
Blue line is the signal line and the just visible red line is the signal...
Can't you guys get the injectors and coils scoped and stop all the guesses? Anyone locally to you who could do it?
Post the waveforms if you can.
Andy.
Setting up the pico for a TPS voltage check.
So, here's the voltage at the signal wire to the PCM from the TPS.
I made 2 full throttle openings from under the hood by hand (which is why the ramps are not smooth) and held them there for a second or so, then let it go.
Notice...
Here we have a waveform at the battery with engine at idle
Heres the voltage waveform at the IAC (idle air control valve) with engine at idle and no electrical load
Here it is with AC and lights on
Since this is a pull down circuit, the low bit on the steeped waveform is the on...
Hi Guys.
I would like to start a thread of good mark 8 scope waveforms.
They are a superb, unbeatable diagnostic tool as long as you can find somebody to do it!!
If anyone and everyone could add to these it would be good.
Anyway, heres a waveform of one of my primary ignition coils...
Got fed up of pass headlight fogging up and producing condensation, and couldn't find the leak, so I smoke tested it.
Heres a link to youtube of the smoke pouring out of the join where the lens is glued. Amazed the hell out of me!

Duct taped it up...
Hi 99interceptor.
Thats the diagram I have drawn in a simpler version above! Thanks anyway.
Since I am in the UK i need to be absolutely 100% sure of the faulty component because 1) of the expense of shipping in a new part, and 2) my Wife would kill me:(
I need to do some more circuit...
Thanks for reply NoLimit95.
Code was generated by myself disconnecting sender wire. Not concerned about that.
So all the meanings of that code are irrelevant.
The FLI V pid and FLI pid seem to match when I test.
yes, gage could be at fault, but it would be nice to be able to understand...
hi all.
i've been hunting down an erratic fuel gauge reading (one day reading 1/4, next 3/4 etc) and have already changed the fuel tank sending unit as part of a fuel tank restoration, but the problem continues.
I have used the NGS tester to command the gauge and this is what I got
10%...
Car successfully fired up today and the fuel gauge looks like its working okay! Time will tell though.
Here's 3 photos of the inner workings of the sender unit showing the wiper on the track. Both look well worn.
Andy.
Hi again guys. I'm assuming I have to look elsewhere for this part then? No word.
Would someone just tell me the state of play? I don't mind if its not possible to send the part, but I need to find it somewhere else if thats the case. Cars not moved since december so need a decision on this...
Hi all.
Almost embarassing this, but I've bust a fuel line clip and can't find a replacement!
Here it is!
Yes I could fab a new one but would rather use the proper one!
Its from here....
In the meantime I'm going to put the old one back and heat shrink sleeve around it...
Fuel tank back in today, but not before I rustproofed inside the frame rails and then heated all the steel up with a hot air gun to make it flow through all the seams.
These 2 floorpan seams are very rust prone so they got covered!
On the left hand inner rocker lip is a spot welded...
Hi slowmkviii
The camaro is gone:eek: Sold, and in a museum in our deep south! Well, near the south coast anyway. 15 years to build, one of the top show cars in the UK and what do I do? Sell it:rolleyes: I love the build-after that its downhill!! So here we are now, a garage full of a BIG...
Yeah! Got to take some risks sometimes though. I need a working fuel gauge!!
fuel tank continued.............
Into the shed for the top half to be painted with silver epoxy 2 pack paint
Here's the rusty fuel filler pipe undergoing clean up
and here they are again after 3...
