The engine has 70thousand miles on it and it came out of the same model as my v8 2004 LS. I have never worked with the shop before but my co workers say they are great. Just to be clear before I drop this cash - The consensus is that I should have it replaced and not have them try to fix?

I just described the issue to a friends mechanic and he says its my head gasket likely, maybe a bent rod. He says he can fix it for 1300. I afraid of going through that if I need a new engine.

popped the plugs and dont see the first lil piston moving like the other 7. Could that be the issue? Can I fix it or is that a real mechanics job? I also didnt see water shoot out once I tried to crank with plugs removed.
