The Gen 1 v8 LS uses a hydraulic system to rotate the fan. The hydraulic actuator goes bad and causes problems.
People on here have found a "work around" by using an hydraulic actuator from a Jeep cherokee.
Others have deleted the hydraulic fan completely, and changed the belt and pulley...
There are some threads on here, where people were/are using an actuator from a Jeep (Cherokee?)
Supposedly it the same part as the LS.
Do some research.
I've read that too but I've also read someone say that although it looks identical that the threads are different.
Moot point now anyway for me since I told him to go ahead with the conversion. Plus I'm waiting for Oddball to get back to me so I can order one of his controllers he made.
Thanks...
The actuator is probably shorted/grounded then.
I think I have read on this forum, that the actuator for a Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee will work as a replacement.
Shit. I need to read my whole post over before I hit the button. When I was talking about when I squeezed the radiator hoses it was supposed to say there WASN'T much pressure not "was". smh
I really hope the mechanic comes through and is able to work it out even more now since my friend's...
I also remember seeing a post that had a jeep guy that said he used an LS actuator and just wired it in ... do you think it's possible to wire a jeepactuator to the LS? Might be a future fix since they are so hard to find
Just in case you don't know what it looks like here is the one I purchased ...I always wondered if the Jeep Cherokees Actuator would work in the Lincoln LS ( Thinking out loud again) lol
