Need a second gen v8 reman, any one know of a source? Thanks

You mean besides the "bay of e"? Lol

This could be the perfect opportunity to upgrade to a 4.2 or 4.4 block (or even an AM 4.3 or 4.7 if you're feeling adventurous). Seriously though, you could

AutoZone, Advance Autoparts, JEG'S, Summit

I'm looking for an actual mechanic shop that is knowledgeable with this engine, not eBay scammers, lol

For the V8 you might get lucky with a Jag mech. But I thought you already had a mechanic looking at your car. No recommendations from him?

He'll swap it but he doesn't have time to rebuild an engine, he used to know a good guy that rebuilt these engines but he said he's retired now unfortunately.

I was thinking of upgrading but it seems like every thread dealing with an upgrade is having issues and he said he also doesn't have time to figure out how make a different engine work and rewire it all.

For the block, from what I've been told/shown, the oil pan, front cover, ancillaries, & wiring are carried over to the new block. It's basically just a displacement change without the machine shop charge, so a little less complicated (kinda). Not sure what members are local to you tho. Did you reach out to the FB Lincoln LS folks yet?

No, I'm not on Facebook. I either need a remanufactured drop in block or a knowledgeable shop capable of rebuilding mine. I'd kinda like a drop in reman ideally, i think my block is full of stop leak from the previous owner, but maybe they can clean it out if they take it all apart, I'm not sure. I've put so much money into this car already i don't want a junkyard take a gamble engine, i want a guaranteed good one so i don't have to do it again anytime soon, ha

FWIW...I suggests you buy a different 2nd Gen...I would suggest a 2006 ...use your 2003 as a parts car

Well, for remanufactured engines for the LS you have...AutoZone, Advance Autoparts, JEG'S, Summit. IIRC they were like $4K or so. Kinda puts the 2006 LS suggestion into perspective

The individual parts are still available (I think). Then you need to find a good engine machine shop.
Possibly found a machine shop, he said possibly 3000-3500 to rebuild, yikes! Not sure if i like the car that much, engines apparently quite the pain to change so I'm not sure I wanna gamble on a junk yard motor, rather put in a known fresh rebuild if possible. Or i just might try and find another LS, or scrap it and find a car with better parts availability. I've put so much into it already i hate to stop now, but it's looking to be neverending, prolly need a trans next, ha

You might get lucky with a low milage engine from a junkyard.

Most yards around here record the milage when a car comes in. Some even write it on the windshield.

Don't know if you have an LKQ junkyard around where you live... but that might be a good place to start.

As an afterthought... a few years back I got curious and went on the Ford Parts website.

They still had new Gen 2 V8's listed in stock. IIRC... they were $5k... but that was a "drop in" engine complete from drain plug to engine cover.

Just a thought...

are you willing to shop for a used motor? resale of car, or keep it for years? car-part.com
Motors are apparently expensive and a pain in the ass to change in this car so i only wanna do it once with a known good rebuild, not a guess with a junkyard motor and have to do it again in a couple months.

Every LS owner on this site should know their nearest salvage yards by now. All LS's are over 14 years old now and these yards are fast becoming our only source for most parts. Call around, you might find a yard that has already pulled an engine, most will be happy to refer you to a yard more likely to have an LS, some offer some kind of money back warranty (though labor will not be included). In my pick a part prospecting, I find that about 1 in 8-10 gen2 LS's are under 70,000 miles (they usually write the milage somewhere on the car), which compared to my 210,000+ LS, is low milage.
