Need a second gen v8 reman, any one know of a source? Thanks
He'll swap it but he doesn't have time to rebuild an engine, he used to know a good guy that rebuilt these engines but he said he's retired now unfortunately. For the V8 you might get lucky with a Jag mech. But I thought you already had a mechanic looking at your car. No recommendations from him?
No, I'm not on Facebook. I either need a remanufactured drop in block or a knowledgeable shop capable of rebuilding mine. I'd kinda like a drop in reman ideally, i think my block is full of stop leak from the previous owner, but maybe they can clean it out if they take it all apart, I'm not sure. I've put so much money into this car already i don't want a junkyard take a gamble engine, i want a guaranteed good one so i don't have to do it again anytime soon, haFor the block, from what I've been told/shown, the oil pan, front cover, ancillaries, & wiring are carried over to the new block. It's basically just a displacement change without the machine shop charge, so a little less complicated (kinda). Not sure what members are local to you tho. Did you reach out to the FB Lincoln LS folks yet?
FWIW...I suggests you buy a different 2nd Gen...I would suggest a 2006 ...use your 2003 as a parts carNo, I'm not on Facebook. I considered that, but the 03 is practically already all brand new except the block, haFWIW...I suggests you buy a different 2nd Gen...I would suggest a 2006 ...use your 2003 as a parts car
So it would make a perfect parts carI considered that, but the 03 is practically already all brand new except the block, ha
Indeed, but i just put them all on, don't wanna have to start over! Easier to just put in a new engine and be done.So it would make a perfect parts car
he's retired now unfortunately.
Possibly found a machine shop, he said possibly 3000-3500 to rebuild, yikes! Not sure if i like the car that much, engines apparently quite the pain to change so I'm not sure I wanna gamble on a junk yard motor, rather put in a known fresh rebuild if possible. Or i just might try and find another LS, or scrap it and find a car with better parts availability. I've put so much into it already i hate to stop now, but it's looking to be neverending, prolly need a trans next, haThe individual parts are still available (I think). Then you need to find a good engine machine shop.
are you willing to shop for a used motor? resale of car, or keep it for years? car-part.comNeed a second gen v8 reman, any one know of a source? Thanks
Motors are apparently expensive and a pain in the ass to change in this car so i only wanna do it once with a known good rebuild, not a guess with a junkyard motor and have to do it again in a couple months.are you willing to shop for a used motor? resale of car, or keep it for years? car-part.com
Well I wouldn't think it would be that damn hard, but maybe I'm wrong, lolIf anyone ever really rebuilt these, I missed it.
