94 Mark VIII Convertible Progress Thread

That sounds like a very average price for a complete custom top replacement... lots and lots of work in doing one of those...

Thank god my top is in good shape! Although I made sure it was, otherwise I would have thought twice before buying it.

I finally got some work done on the convertible today. I really dont have any extra money to spend on it at the moment, but I can at least get things ready. I took off the hood, rear bumper, and decklid. Wasnt too bad. The bumper SUCKED to get off with the POS trailer hitch in the way. Note to self: remove hitch before installing bumper

I plan on getting those 3 in paint within the next couple weeks. I think I have decided to paint the jambs as well, so eventually the doors will have to come off and be taken apart, but that isnt until I get the 3 parts I took off today painted and the car actually taken back down to the shop.

I had planned on working on the vert in my parents garage, but it didnt work out that way. It is currently being stored in a 40x70 morton building and the door was frozen in about 3" of ice so I couldnt get the door open. Its been in the 40's all week and I just figured it had melted, but I guess I was wrong.

Here are a couple pics.

Well today Im heading to chicago to pick up seats, console, carpet, and maybe some other misc items. I think sometime this week Ill swap everything over to the VERT and try to sell what was replaced to recoup some money. Ill post pics as soon as i pull the interior and start working on it.

On a side note I took the week of april 19th off work so I can paint it. It looks like it might actually be ready for carlisle in time!

Well some of the parts were not what I was expecting so I came home with alot less. check out what I got:

I just thought of this one. I went and looked at a 1993 that was champange with a black interior. I was struck at how cherry the interior was on it. Too bad the car around it was rotted all to hell. I think you could buy the whole car for $500.00 and drive it home. You want the guys name and number I could PM it to you?

i can't wait to see it when your done...I wish my rides were as clean as yours

Oh shut up Jeb..... Yours is one of the tip-top examples on this site.

Mine on the other hand.......

I shaved the license plate holes today. Tomorrow ill buzz the bumpers down and get them ready for primer.

you are slow, you got this thing like 6 months ago and you havent done :q:q:q:q!!! get to work lazy ass.

It is going to look so good Chris.... that in dash CD... I want one!!!

Just because I have an affinity for rare Mark parts...

well today the car got taken the rest of the way apart for paint, door off and disassembled, front bumper off, all the trim removed etc. I stated blocking\filling the doors quarters and fenders. My goal is to have some primer on it by tomorrow night. I have some pics but am too lazy to post them. Ill throw some on here tomorrow.

It was kind of nerve racking taking the one of a kind parts off, but I didnt break anything and disassembly went fairly well. (anything seems good after my heater core disaster last weekend.)

Here are the pictures from yesterday:
