A/C Stopped Working

Personally, I'd go back and verify everything else is good, including pressure switches and the refrigerant level.

You should really test the field coil first, just in case the problem is elsewhere.

if the compressor is kicking on when he looped the pressure switch connector, his field coil is good. if the coil was bad the compressor would not kick on. the coil controls the clutches directly.

He hasn't said if his compressor has kicked on at all.

Mines, I need to ground the clutch (which I don't know which one of the 2 is the ground) before I know if its the Clutch Field Coil or not and to go to the next step

you can use a test light to determine which is ground and which is hot. unplug the coil connector and start the car and put a/c on high. using the test light probe the pins and if the light lights up youve got your hot. if test light doesnt light up on either you have to troubleshoot further.

hey blue, got confused on which a/c system to troubleshoot. maybe 98lcs can use the info i put out.sorry for the confusion.

No worries. The whole system confuses me! LOL. Don't forget chat is open!

The connector on the low switch was bad and not making connection-plus the guy at jiffy lube didnt fill as they said they did-Once I got the compressor going I filled it back and walla-the cars an ice locker again.

Sorry to thread jack, but mine started acting up today. It doesnt blow all the time its picky lol. If its on and blowing on high when I turn it down it shuts offand the vent doesnt blow either its like a short somewhere.
