derrik is picking up a motor from pasco auto salvage, 97 with 53k on it, they are gonna deliver it to my shop hopefully friday, i'll rip his motor out, put the new one on my stand, change the oil pan gasket, valve cover gaskets and oil adapter gasket, install the new motor mounts, toss his 98 trans on my bench and pull the pan, j-mod it, 1-2 accumulators, filter, new convertor, swap the harness from his 97 into the 98 trans, bolt the trans to the motor, put it back in, fill it with all new fluids, change the hoses, fire it up. me and derrik worked out a figure, plus he is gonna give me the old motor and trans. i think i will use his block to build my new motor for my car.

Simply put if you weed all the other stuff out, and summerize what Tom and Jamie said that's it all in a nut shell.

And one personal note, if I did more head swaps, and/or cam timing adjustments (w/installed adjustable cam sprockets), insted of motor swaps, I wouldn't be driving 25 year old junk, I would have a couple of GT500 in my stables, think about that for a moment.

Or I would have already bought my wife a 2000 Cobra R, instead of building her a clone.

Yeah it all worked out...there's a silver lining to every cloud. I think it's quite funny how this thread did indeed go as KK put it "epic fail to epic win" ;)

It's going to make for good times and a HUGE overall learning experience.
