Why would they want to use a slow azz LS?
Apparently you didnt notice the 20mph speed limit sign, which means he is stopping people doing about 25-30. Also, whatever vehicle they have doesnt matter, you STOP. A cop could have a 90 hp Ford Festiva and it shouldnt make a difference. I'd love to see how they have it lit up. Here is the article...http://www.tampatrib.com/News/MGBVQS22ICE.html

Cool! Maybe Tampa's finest needs to be a member here on LvC!

What the hell?! I am glad that we don't have cops driving around their patrol LSs in cali. That's messed up.

I think he needs some clear corners and a bullit grill. Ken?

Here in Florida we have all kinds of stuff going on like that. Minivans, trucks, grand prix, intrepid, contours, oldsmobile. Gotta be watchin your mirror.

At least he is wearing his uniform. I got pulled over in Brooklyn, New York by two cops in regular clothes in a Mitsubishi Galant... I was what the hell. I saw a lot of cops driving Taxi cabs too over there. That's just mad.

Yeah, and maybe an LSE Body Kit too! You think the Tampa PD would foot the bill for it? :steering

Proabably as fast as a Crown Victoria....there is nothing special about Crown Vics.

most states have laws requiring poice to either be in uniform or in a marked car to pull people over.

states starting passing those laws because many rapist pretending to be cops to pull people over.

Personally I think the use of Unmarked cars in traffic stops should be banned all together, but there is NO REASON for them not to be in uniform

What's the argument for saying cops shouldn't drive unmarked cars to pull over traffic violators? Other than it's harder to see them and quickly hit my brakes, of course.

Also, he might have just been running radar in that car. The half dozen chase cars were a quarter mile up there road. Those are usually regular black and whites.

I think he nailed the argument. promotes sickos to put a blue light in their cars and start pulling people over. People would be much more at ease being pulled over by an actual police car.

simple, like was stated, it is a public saftey hazard. Anyone can put a blue/red light in any car in impersonate an officer. Makes it easy for rapist, stalkers and other criminals to find victims.

Cops are not to suppose to be tax men, somehow, however they have been turned in to armed tax men for the city's and counties. Ever since fines were budgeted as operating revenue for the government the police have stopped being law enforcers and started being revenue collectors.

Unmarked Cars have only 1 purpose, in traffic stops, increase revenue

Maybe some black 20s with chrome lip also..

Yeah, the LS is faster than the Vic. Higher top speed and faster in the 1/4.

Thats nuts, I hope Ohio doesnt pass a law like this one. I hate Indiana cause they have unmarked cop cars all over 70 on your way into Indy. I think its just not right but what heck r we going to do about it. "The Ancient" is totally correct about one thing, its all about the MONEY!

The threat of a crazy with blue lights in an unmarked is real.

It's sad to say, but I've told my wife and daughter that if an unmarked car attempts to pull them over, to turn on their hazard lights, use the cell phone to call 911, and drive to the police department in a normal (obviously not running) manner.

That LS was indeed lit up according to their article. I dont know about where everyone else is from, but here i have to give the cops credit with the lighting on their unmarked cars. Its outragous, strobes everywhere. For a "fake" to pull it off, they'd have to spend alot of money. If i saw one little rotating blue light i'd be suspicious. As far as revenue, that ticket is YOUR penalty. Its not their fault for enforcing it. City police are the ones enforcing traffic laws so tightly because the money comes back to them. A deputy sheriff wont be near as likely to enforce traffic laws. But for one reason or another Florida has a ton of unmarked law enforcement.

yes and no.

City's historically have put limits are speed far far lower than required for "saftey" I live on a 4 lane "raod" (should be a highway but not mant. by the state so it is a road" and it is only 35 with some spots 25:rolleyes:

They do this for revenue, dont let them fool you.

Same with the seat belt laws and many of the other "saftey" laws:rolleyes:

I will have to find the artical in a paper I read that stated the city was going to change the laws in such a way that the police dept would turn a profit:eek:

An LS is just about exactly the same performance wise as a CVPI except an LS can go faster.

In Your Dreams Copper!

"Aggressive driving is not a chargeable offense"...then why is it on the ticket, ummm, as a "rider", or maybe they couldn't raise the initial fines so they created these "add-ons" We can't fine you for doing 1 thing that we think isn't right so we are going to find 2 things that you are doing that WE think is not right and that makes it right to stop you???? So if you dont think the way I part my hair is right nor the way I hold the steering wheel THAT MAKES IT OK to pull me over?

"$113,000 for the vehicles is just the start"...hummm where does the sheriffs brother in law work???? just curious...or maybe they wanted another write off for driving grandmas LS for work on top of the write off he is getting for living in her house taking care of her, plus the $$$ he gets off his loan for the house for living there....oh yeah and the free breakfast lunch and dinner he gets and the free gym membership and...ask a cop, the list goes on...I've dated several. (not at the same time, I'd get a ticket!)

"The idea, he said, is to have traffic enforcement deputies "melt into traffic" in unassuming vehicles, where they can spot more lawbreaking drivers. " HUMMMMM are we really getting that good at spotting them...not from what I have observed!!!!!

"There's the gold Ford Expedition, the silver Lincoln LS, the silver Ford Explorer and the fire-engine red Ford F150 pickup......We want every citizen to think every gold Expedition they see out there is us, he said." ummmm what are they trying to tell us....fear Fords, fear gold and red vehicles, or just fear everyone cause they might be a cop. Sounds pretty disturbing, what in the heck are those cops on!

I'll tell yall what, I don't care what you having flashing, rolling blinking or what sounds you have blaring....If I don't see the official symbols of a cruiser, I'm not stopping! What's to say your not a friggin nut trying to take the law in your own hands....or worse!!!! Bad policy to get started I think.

Coming from a Hottie who has been told by several cops to never stop for an unmarked vehicle....and having to defend myself against cops in legit cruisers....this Hottie is not takin' any chances with a gold expedition or any other unmarked vehicle!!! (oh yeah all you abductors down there - BUY A GOLD EXPE!!!)

This statement sums it all up: "The vehicles, paid for by a state grant that is funded through traffic fines..." the cops are tired of driving CV's, contract only authorizes CV's so they thought it would be nice if you bought them a different model.

Ummm can we say STRUCK A CORD!!!!!
