Anyone interested in a custom heat shield if I make a few??

One thing at a time. I would like to get into making intake tubes but there are some online already and I'm not sure I could make something any better or cheaper. We'll see.
lol but not for a first gen v6 :(

After some further modification I realized the hole you see to the right of the heat sheild was a hole I drilled to install my origional stainless steel heat sheild. The factory air box mounting hole is just below the flat piece just to the left of the hole in the pic. I have drilled out the prototype heat sheild to be able to use the factory mounting hole. This will be much cleaner looking and easier to install for the buyers.

Either of these MAF adapters work on a Gen I (I am using the K&N RC-3600 Filter w/the Spectre 8145):

$15 Spectre Part# 8145 4" Small Ford MAF Intake Adapter (Autozone, O'Reillys, Amazon: might have to special order)

$40 KKM True-Rev MAF Adapter only (70MM Adapter): http://www.kustomz.com/components.html

Good info. Thanks again LDM. I'm sure most people who dont already have the KKM filter kit will use the spectre MAF adapter due to price. $15 vs. $40

One thing that concerns me about all this is the various different sizes of cone filters on the market. Some filters have a very large outer diameter on the engine side of the filter and I think some filters will not fit under a closed hood. I can forsee someone getting pissed because their existing filter is too big. The rather long K&N I have has a relatively small outside diameter on the engine side of the filter and fits just right under the hood. I will have to put a disclaimer in my listing that says the maximum outside diameter of the filter to be used.

looking great buddy.. Im not sure what model filter adapter i have (it came with my intake) But i do know i use the 3 1/2" ring with my spectre filter. I can order the amazon MAF adapter if necessary.... prototypes look awesome.... you need a "HITE intake's" sticker made to go on the inside :p ....

HITE PERFORMANCE maybe :D

I was thinking Hite Heatshields but that is item specific. Hite Performance sounds pretty good.

Glad you will use existing bolt hole.

That ebay intake place gets those all the time without the filter and MAF. I have been in contact with them for a couple months...

The Spectre 8145 mounts to factory MAF perfectly. Here's some pics of mine mounted with the K&N RC-3600 Filter.

I've got pretty much this same setup, except I'm using a Spectre air filter. I was planning on mimicking your wire stabilizer. :) This heat shield is gonna rock!

I have been working on a few heatshields. I have around 6 near completion and I will likely have either confirmed it will fit an LSK tube or have one specifically designed for the 1st gen with the LSK tube by this Saturay or Sunday. The 2nd gen with factory intake tube will soon follow. I'm going with one design at time so I can focus on making quality pieces with the best fit possible. Here's pics so far.

Very cool! You've been busy!

That would be great if the stock and LSK tube work with your heatshield (but I think the LSK tube is longer with a downward pitch and extends the filter towards the fender more, at least it looks that way in the pictures). I'll buy one if it fits both. Otherwise I will have to wait for $ for the LSK tube & your heatshield.

I just checked ebay, no more tubes only listed (hopefully they will get them back, I just sent the seller a message).

Full kit for '00-'02 LS V8 $299 (2002 V8 Thunderbird full kit $269 - thought they were the same):

I already contacted him. He said they have 6 LSK chrome tubes and one black. Never seen a black one before??? I told him to let me know when they were listed and I'd buy one immediately. Hes never contacted me and they havent been listed. I check everyday. I told him I only wanted the tube because I had no need for the filter.

G-RELL came over today and we made a template for the heat shield for the LSK intake tube. I made the template with cardboard and then made a metal one from that. I used the origional metal heatshield as the permanant template and made him one for his car from that. The fit is very good as you can see in the pics below. He is going to send me the pics he took with his camera so I can do a full write up on the process. The good news is now I will have heatshields for sale to work for the gen1's with the factory intake tube and the gen1's with the LSK intake tube. Sometime next week I will be posting both of these in the for sale forum and will start a thread in the LS forum with a link to the for sale page.

Just ordered my Spectre adapter so put me on the list lol, thinking of doing a dry filter though.

That looks great, good work.

$40, I'm sold. When can you ship?

(sorry if that was answered already, I'm to lazy to read all this)
