AT LAST: Pictures of the XF

Didn't want to start a new thread since this is XF related haha. I knew that jaguar was bringing AWD to some models in 2013. But what I didn't know is they also have some new engine choices.

You can now get a
2.0 turbocharged engine making 29mpg highway.
Or a
3.0 supercharged engine making 28mpg highway.

I'm sure they are trying to get new buyers with the new AWD and fuel efficient engines, but I'm not sure how I feel about anything less than a V8 in the XF.

If it helps, Buick put a 3.8L with a turbocharger into a Regal body. That car would stomp a Corvette into the ground. I ran one on the highway once, starting at highway speeds he took off from me like a top fuel dragster. That was with 1980s technology. A modern turbocharged V6 should run at least as well with the better mileage. I'd especially like to see BMW's new electric turbocharger get adopted industry-wide. It eliminates turbo lag completely.

For those that don't know about this, BMW came up with a new turbocharger. They split the drive section from the compression section and installed a clutched electric motor between the two sections. When called for, the clutch opens the drive section and runs up the compression section. This provides instant boost while allowing an unloaded drive section to spin up a lot faster. At some point, the clutch locks the drive section to the compression section and uses the engine to drive the turbo. The whole process only takes a few seconds as the electric section only operates until the engine's RPM is high enough to do the job.

I think Jaguar feels advantaged by the XIs, 4 matics and the quattros, attracting customers away from them. About time they found the All Wheel Drive opponents perilous for business.
And, it's a solution to the retention that is currently present.

On paper, the 3 liter supercharged engine isn't supposed to be far behind the NA 5 liter engine, in terms of performance. I am sure the new ZF 8 speed is a contributing factor - soon to be 9.
I know some guys who have already test driven a XJ equipped with the smaller engine and they were not impressed. Especially, when the XJ is the lighter car.

Check the review Autoblog gave and see what they thought. http://www.autoblog.com/2012/10/02/2013-jaguar-xj-v6-first-drive-review/

I also find it strange as to why they would project such low Highway MPGs with newer more fuel efficient engines. I have been averaging 20mpg with my V8 that pushes close to 400hp. Most of the time, my exhaust sounds like two AKs going off out the back, therefore, can attest i don't drive easy. I can easily reach the 24-26mpg mark on the highway.

Ran a 1st gen Taurus with the Yamaha engine once too. Thought I was doing pretty good until a cop went by the other way and turned his lights on. As soon as those lights went on the guy in the Taurus evaporated on me. If it weren't for the fact that I knew the roads there really well and it was sundown I'd have been busted.
