Bad engine: How to change????

Yeah, towing it down here may cost a couple hundred, but if you bring it to us to do the swap...you could even get a 93 rack/subframe installed at the same time :D.. It wouldn't take anywhere near a month..and you'd have a faster ratio rack when done...if you wanted

well i have worked outside on a farm in 30 below wind chills with no hat on my bald head and just a hoodie sweat shirt for hours for years and now 7 years of florida had turned me into a candy ass when it comes to cold, it was 31 when i left for work this morning with 15 mph steady wind, that is cold down here i dont care what anyone says, when we live 9 months out of the year in sweltering heat, anything below 50 feels freezing.

I've lived in the midwest all my life and I still consider it fcuking cold when it's below 50. But this is where my job is so I grit my teeth and take it.

When I was a kid I used to walk to school in the cold. It was uphill both ways. I used birchwood bark for shoes, wrapped with barbed wire, RUSTY barbed wire. :shifty::p

Or it's because those wooden sole shoes are fuggin expensive for some reason, and rusty barbed wire isn't in fashion anymore

Sounds to me like you could do it yourself. Bag and tag everything, take photos BEFORE and number code all your vacum line connections. Anything that looks like it might snag you later on, take a photo and tape a note. I cant see it being any tougher than a Supercoupe swap and IMO those arent bad at all.

Perfect time to spend some money on tools anyways. :D Besides you can call any of these Jokers filling up your thread 24/7 if you have any questions. waaaahahaha

Oh and the KID might even saddle up and come do it for ya...Or is that just detail jobs??:D

I already have the torx sockets, to drop the motor from the bottom. What worries me the most is the transmission. THose torque converter bolts are hard to get too, especially with no inspection plate like a 350turbo tranny. But yes i do need toools, and this would be a perfect time too save money and too find out were the vacume lines go on my other motor.

...... no inspection plate....... yeah........ hsave you just not even tried to look? Two 10mm bolts holds it in place or you can use the rubber plug on the drivers side of the motor.

Please post progress pics as you go, this should be fun to watch.

It's 2 8mm bolts for the inspection plate, and the T/C nuts are 14mm, trans bell housing are 13mm and the starter is 3 10mm, the trans lines are 7/16

actually the trans lines are 12 mm, nothing on the mark is standard even though standard will work, the car is metric.

I hope he is writing this stuff down..=)

Myself I need to pull the 5.4 in my 99' Expedition. Im sooo not looking forward to that. I guess that rascal has to come out from the bottom.

Funny, the fuggers look 13mm to me. Maybe my wrenches are busted cause my 12 dont fit and the 13 fits prefect.

No i haven't tried to look, there's snow on the ground here, it don't sit in the garage my mustang does. I was just stating from when i gutted a 94 mark viii. I did not even notice one, but we pulled it as one whole piece. Motor and trans together. This was a year ago too. Ill definitely have to take a look, and yes i am writing this down, excellent information. Well needed indeed.

i meant 13, not 12, but i knew what i was typing when they deff werent 7/16!!
and bill you can get a 12 mm on them, you just need the open end, and a giant pnuematic hammer lmfao

7 cases of frostbite ( 1 on my kawk ) yeah im takin my cold arse in the house

Why the eff would you pull your kawk out in the freezing cold long enough to get frostbite? If I'm pulling mine out in the winter, it's to stuff it in a nice, warm, female orifice. ymmv.

Sorry, I don't have anything useful to add to the thread, other than how to prevent frostbite on your johnson.

comes out the top. it cant come out the bottom as there is no "sub frame" just a full framed truck, you could lift the body off but that makes no sense when it can come right out the top

Right, it can come out the top but Ive read that lifting the body off is quicker. Im still debating it. Thinkin if I pull the body off I can have a look around and clean/fix a few other things.

152K and its a rust free truck. Ive owned it since about 80K and its been great up until now. Might fix it and get a pre-03 Excursion with 7.3 powerstroke.

Found this one with only 90K on it which is pretty hard to find and its done right...Talkin to the wife. =)

That thing is purdy. More money then I would have expected but at 90k that motor aint even broken in yet!

Well.... :p

The diff cover bolts are 5/16" x 18, as are the ABS sensor retaining bolts, and everything inside the diff is standard as well.
