BS law in MO!!!

what about the loud ass biker dudes

Hey!....I resemble that remark!

Nothing against the bikes, or the bikers. I just don't see the difference. Just like what was previously stated-your right to modify your vehicle ends at intruding on someone elses.

I would agree with you if the speaker law was an isolated case, but it's not. I see this happen all the time and in cases like the hands free cell phone issue, no one was annoyed at a stop light by someone using his phone. Anytime some new subject makes the news and the pols notice the public has a strong opinion, they make speeches and propose new laws so they can be in the papers too...even if existing laws already cover the issue.
Oh, I agree that there's a lot of garbage that gets passed just to prove that a lawmaker is doing something, but this sounds to me more like the lawmaker itself was annoyed by the trunk-thumpers. I just haven't heard the outcry from the public that would prod the politicrits into action. There are just too many other issues that would make a real impression on the constituents. But the sponsors of the bill are the only ones who really know.

I've only used my loud pipes in self defense. Like the bumper sticker says, they do saves lives. These are attached to a big bore motor and will get the attention of any distracted driver.

yes, nittanylion64 it was a city law I remeber it when I went to SEMO also. Popular Bluff also has a similar law. Sorry I said it might be a state law because I believe I was wrong on that.

And you wonder why these laws are being contemplated...

I bought them I can use them however I want. I keep it up next to cops at stoplights they dont care why should I turn it down for anyone else?

As was just mentioned by Sooner...this is the reasons that anything is being contemplated. After reading all these, there really are some very responsible individuals on this site and I'm impressed with their courtesy. It is these folks that will be able to enjoy their stereos and not ever have to worry about any laws that intrude on their personal freedoms.

The reason you should turn it down is you are intruding on someone else's personal freedoms...just like this law is intruding on yours. You don't like what the law is doing...and I don't like what you are doing. How can you possibly find fault with one and not the other? You are contradicting yourself.

why should I turn it down for anyone else?

As some of us have already stated, its a matter of being curteous and thinking of someone besides yourself.

edit: d'oh! someone beat me to it (and stated it more eloquently, i might add) while i was taking my sweet time hitting the post button.

Doesn't matter it aint gonna pass and I aint gonna turn it down end of story if I buy something I should be able to use it how I want not how some old senile person wants.

Please tell me you're just putting us all on! You cannot possibly be that sociopathic and not be locked up somewhere. If you are then you'll, no doubt, be behind bars soon. Not for the noise, obviously, but that "I can do any GD thing I want" attitude is a sure sign of a future inmate. How old are you anyway?

My buddy just bought a military grade sniper rifle. Should he be able to use it to shoot whomever and where ever he wants? He bought it, it's his property.

The stereo thing is just common courtesy, I guess this shows just how far our society has gone. It's always ME FIRST! Screw everyone else!! It just bothers me how no one can think past themselves!

I dont do whatever I want I obey the laws for the most part and its not like it is hurting anyone? (like a sniper rifle) I dont like loud motorcycles are they gonna outlaw them? and I have never seen any biker take off slowly so I didnt have to get a earfull so what makes them better then me?

Its not a matter of them being better than you, its a matter of you being better than them.

To go back to the sniper rifle comparison, if one guy shoots up a school, should you do it because you feel you should get to do whatever someone else does? Just because other inconsiderate jerks on the road do whatever they please, doesn't mean you should. You should be the better person and stop putting your own selfish desires first.

Hell, I hate loud bikes, too. That's why I don't drive one. I'm not going to drive one just because I feel I have some right to be as obnoxious as the next guy.

But your "Music" drowns out my Mozart!!! :D

when i had my ear killing system i used to play it loud at traffic lights on purpose i was in my car enjoying my music and i built it to shake every damn thing in site
next to me wasent bad but behind me you better watch out. i got pulled over by a cop who told me i was shaking the lights off of his roof when i drove by him. he was on the opposite side of the road. for a $25 ticket and another $25 for court cost i didnt care. i used to go over to pa and there this tunnel that goes from the burlington bristol bridge road on to 13 and some other roads when i was in that tunnel it was loud as hell. i enjoyed it but soon had to sell becouse i couldent hear for 1/2 a day at a time after i got to work 45 min away blasting it the whole time. 156db.s @ 1 ohm 2 memphis subs and a memphis amp all memphis speakers and a cheap wall mart amp powering my mids and highs o0o0 a tweets hooked up to the headunit wires. loud as hell and i enjoyed every min of it.

But dont you think there should be a law on them as well?

I believe people should be considerate without being forced to by law. If not, its simply their own failing as human beings and I pity them.

Permanent hearing damage and a fine. Excess at its finest. :headbang:
