Having spent 27 years in Law Enforcement, I can advise that many of these types of laws are what we used to call "Feel Good" laws. Many times so poorly written that they were impossible to enforce or had the opposite effect than that envisioned. You can understand them better when you realize the laws are intended to make some legislator or focus group feel good. Not to actually accomplish anything.

Yep. No one consulted me when they made the laws so I will follow the ones I choose to :)

Hey...that's your choice! There are a lot of people like you! There really are. Unfortunately for you, many of them wear orange coveralls all day and their windows are decorated with bars....

By the way....you were consulted. Either you voted for or against the laws or the people who are implementing them. That's how this country works. You did vote didn't you?

Voting doesn't matter they do what they want anyway, If voting mattered Bush wouldnt be president.

I'd LOVE to hear you say that to a judge. How do you think you'll look in an orange jumpsuit?

So the fact that he was voted into office doesn't mean anything?

nope they cheated. but this thread has gotten way off topic and out of hand so it should probably end now.

I've only used my loud pipes in self defense. Like the bumper sticker says, they do saves lives. These are attached to a big bore motor and will get the attention of any distracted driver.

Ummm Ric I'm lovin it!

No doubt about the driving while eating, smoking, dog thing..etc..and also about if you can't do 2 things don't...the problem is THEY DO!!!!!! and only continue to irritate and cause accidents. I like riding beside them laying on the horn...the whole way....hehehe

I like the law about headsets because they are probably to hard for them to use.

I wish I could find a way to tap into the lines in my MarkVIII's phone system that is already int here and use my cellie...anyone know?

I agree with all the phone issues, but one thing wrong with it. Do they expect you to wear a headset the whole time, it would be pretty distracting and anoying. so if your not wearing it and your phone rings then you have to fell around for it and put it in your ear, when u could just pick up a big phone. As far as this thread (that i started) its getting way too offensive. people just talking :q:q:q:q. Ive been around here for a little and have heard some :q:q:q:q, but calling people old pricks is too far. this isnt a site to sit here and bash others for what they believe and this thread wasnt intended for that. So basically what im saying get over all the president BS, voting junk, and all the other stuff that doesnt pertain to LAWS ON THE STREET. Thats just my .02 cents, say what you will about it.

Here in Florida there is a stereo law based on distance, but all law enforcement would agree that even though its "on the books" doesnt mean its going to get enforced. As far as the phone stuff, I think its all getting away from the root issue, TALKING while driving regardless of the method will cause distraction. So the holding vs. handsfree is pointless. There are a million things that people do while driving that take a hand away from the wheel. Cant just pick stuff to outlaw. But speaking of distractions and public safety, what about all cops now having laptops and having their eyes glued to it while driving. True story....following behind a State Trooper and he's driving like a total DUI driver, weaving all over. While i am watching this thinking its funny he swerves closer and closer then BANG smacks the curbs, bounces all over, rides it for alittle then swerves back into the lane. I am thinking...What the F*CK ??? Of all times not to have my dv camera.

speaking of that, im in the process of inrolling in the academy now. and i did my ride along last sunday. The entire ride the cops on duty were instant messaging each other the whole shift. driving all over the rode, going 60 in a 30. they never really had focus on the road. but yet "we're" the ones who get ticketed when we use our phones.

You go HOTTIE!!!! You get on the force and start making things right, it takes only one to see one do right then there's 2 ;)....

Being a cop isn't a bad, being a bad cop is.

as far as wearing a headset...I love mine, I've done almost everything with my headset on....well.. yup...everything. lololol it's light, not in the way, usually audio output is satisfying....my cellie is also light and small enough to wear it on a chain around my neck leaving both hands completely free. ...comes in handy doing house work, yard work, MarkVIII work;) I've got 5 sisters....and 2 spare cellie batts!!! lololol I'd be lost without both, cellie and head set!

Hottie, completely believe in yourself and you will succeed in all you do -

SMOOCH!

Does that even effect Kansas City?
Well, unless Kansas City has recently moved into St. Louis, I'm guessing that that would be a no...

well heres what started the whole thread. finally got some follow up on it. it was approved and theyre waiting for the mayor to sign off on it. and he most likely will. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/ne...6FDC31CA1843FA818625710A0055CA48?OpenDocument
ITS BULL, theyre saying that factory cars are too loud
After reading this article, I would opine that it will not pass constitutional muster. The sponsor admits that the law will be selectively enforced and factory installations don't have to worry. Although many laws are in fact selectively enforce, generally speaking you cannot write a law specifically designed to be unequally enforced.
