Connecticut Tragedy

The difference between being a subject and a citizen..........

By the way; dirty little secret; most of these young shooters have been on some form of antidepressant. Shrinks prescribe these psychosomatic drugs to young developing brains all too often. And a 20 year old brain is still developing. I'll bet it comes out that he was on some antidepressant.

I agree totally with Black. An armed teacher would have ended the assault.

Schizophrenia usually shows up in the late teens to early twenties as well. Honestly I can't see anyone in their right mind doing something like this.

If he didn't have guns, he could have easily made a bomb that would have killed as many or more. You'll never be able to ban all the ingredients to make a bomb.

Really? The first thing Hitler did was ban the right to self defense! The second amendment is partially to protect us from runaway government! A government would like nothing more than a citizenry that can't defend itself from tyranny! Australia and GB are no safer since they banned guns. criminals, by definition, will always have guns. Such a simplistic, nanny-state response. Blame the tool and not the indKividual.

You can take my guns from my cold, dead hands! And if you're so against guns, why not put a sign in front of your house saying this is a gun-free zone?

More children die in swimming pools every day than from guns! Let's ban swimming pools! Don't stop there; how about knives!

BTW, Teddy Kennedy's car has killed more people than my guns!

It's a shame this tragedy has to be reduced to politics!

Agreed. On all counts. Especially this:

"A government would like nothing more than a citizenry that can't defend itself from tyranny!"

Straight from our Declaration of Independence:

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

I'm keeping my guns, thank you. A government should fear its people. Not the opposite.

/politics.

Tragic but expected in this day and age.

Agreed on the ADHD drugs 'F'ing up the kids today.

I'm glad he's dead so we don't have to watch his legal drama unfold. He would never end up in the general population and the CO's would be under huge PC pressure so I doubt anything would happen in jail.

Making a law just effects the law abiding folks. Think about that for a minute...

Why do people take advantage of tragedies , especially one where so many children were murdered or traumatized, to preach their illogical arguments? Have some common decency for goodness sake! I wholeheartedly agree that politics do not belong here. Keep your opinions on the politics to yourself, if not just to keep us from knowing how insensitive you are.

Gun laws won't help a damn thing
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

Prayers go out to all the families and children affected by this horrible tragedy

Having a hard time fathoming this.
On my worst days, kids this age make me smile.
The family's are living a type of hell most of us will never understand.

There's PLENTY more I could say about this. But most of it is based on rage/revenge. Going on FB you are immediately bombarded with posts about prayers for everyone involved, which I completely agree with and respect. It makes me happy that there is still some shred of decency on this planet.

But to take advantage of this situation to preach about gun control laws is disgusting. No amount of gun control would've stopped what happened today. Guns are a tool, and in the wrong hands something as disastrous as this can happen. Guns will never be impossible to find. Make them illegal, and they'll just become more expensive.

I agree Pek, There's always be Guns everywhere, no matter how they control it, Crooks will get the Guns they what and still be able to get it with no problems. I love Texas...... Guns is a Norm here :):D

Sorry I had to chime in on this one, couldn't hold it no more lol. God Speed to the victims and families.....

I had this conversation with my girlfriend last night. Told her about Switzerland and their mandatory gun laws for every household for their militia - highest ownership per person in the world, save, I believe, the US thanks to gun fanatics; yet, their gun homicide rate is nearly half ours and fairly low for industrialized nations.

Twenty-two dead the same day in China from a stabbing! It doesn't matter what it is. Sick bastards will do whatever it takes. Nevertheless, a tragic day.

By your logic, why even ban drugs? Everyone's gonna get their hands on it anyways. Hell, why stop there? Remove rating content on games since 8 year olds are playing Call of Duty anyways!

Don't mean to drag politics into this. So ill drop it.

How well did banning alcohol turn out way back?

It’s not the game marker's fault parents let kids play this. Parents let kids do this; no one tells you how to raise your children. The problem is parents expect the TV to raise their kids instead of them.

Like pek and others said, you dont need a gun to kill people, guns dont shoot themselves; for all we know, the guy could've stolen a tank and leveled half a city without the use a a gun or rifle.

This whole situation is very sad. My condolences to the familes and all affected.

Funny you should mention that, as a guy built a tank out of a bulldozer and did just that. I don't think anyone was actually hurt because of how slow moving it was, but he tore about half the town down before overheating, then he killed himself. Seems he had a garage in town, and the folks running the town had a problem with him so they tried to regulate him out of business. He finally snapped over it. He wasn't without blame though, think they tried to run him out because he was a gross polluter or something. Anyone who's interested would need to look up the details.

Well said Alax!

Guns had nothing to do with the mayhem. The cause for this is God being moved out of society. The scary part of is, the more it gets pushed out, as it is, the more events like this will become a norm.

Instituting God into classrooms would do just as much if not less than a weapons ban to prevent this kind of thing.

Really blaming the lack of religion, is exactly like blaming religion when some religious nut blows something up or kills people.

Ugh, I said I wasn't going to get involved in politics in this thread because I thought it was disrespectful. So I apologize.

Really, if it were up to me, I think a separate thread should be started to discuss the politics, issues, etc involved in these situations.

This thread, was clearly started to express condolences, sympathy for the victims and their families.

.........granted I'm not a mod here tho.

The kids mother bought all the guns & didn't have the common sense to have them in a gun safe like responsible gun owners do! We don't need assualt weapons, but should be able to own any weapons if they have trigger locks & secure storage! Agree anyone in this frame of mind could have used anthing as a weapons to do this indispicable thing! His remains should be burned hanging in public display!

My daughter is going to college right now to be a school teacher, so you can imagine how I feel about a potential SOB coming where she will be working to do this. The most immediate response to this in my opinion is that we need to arm the teachers and school administrators. If just one of these teachers had had a gun, this guy would have gone no further than that teacher We trust these teachers with our children so we should be able to trust that they can handle themselves with a gun. A requirement that teachers be armed, and provide training with a regular recertification, would at least give the teachers the means to stop an attacker like this. This would be a far better solution than the outright ban our liberal leadership always calls for. I see no reason why 300 million people should be punished for the acts of 10 people.

During my mom's career as a bank teller she's 'paid out' at gunpoint twice and had a deer destroy the bank once. She said that at least with a bank robber all they have to do is comply and they'll leave. She said the deer was a lot tougher to deal with. It came through the plate glass window, got cut up and ended up back by the drive through.

The only relevance that has to the school tragedy is you try to plan for all eventualities but the random acts of insanity are almost impossible to plan for or deal with efficiently.

When I consider the millions of kids in the school system, the condensed humanity in small spaces and the number of crazies out there I'm truly amazed these tragedies don't happen daily.

BTW, Race, Religion, Political posts are banned from most forums for very good reasons (they tend to bring out the crazies)...

God should be instituted at home, not in a classroom. If people are taught values and morals, they wouldn't think it's okay to go and shoot people. That is the only thing that keeps me, you and everyone on this forum from committing such disgusting acts.
