I wanted to change the sound of my exhaust over the weekend so i replaced my resonators with straight pipes. Sounds deeper and alittle louder than stock.

..... and that's how you do that! :headbang:

sound clips PLEASE! I've wanted to do this for a while, just didnt wanna take the plunge and hate the outcome.

no new mufflers while you were down there? interested to see what it sounds like. i just threw some flowmaster 40 series mufflers on mine and it sounds pretty good but i want a little louder...

post sound clips...

Is it just me or is there a trike in the background of the third pic?

haha yeah its my dads trike he built it in 1980. i just kept the stock mufflers until i finally decide on an exhaust.

That sounds louder than stock like the mufflers have been changed...but Ive gotta 6 so maybe thats my problem. Sounds really good though

First I took off my resonators and put on straight pipes but the sound when going full throtle is horrible it sounded kind of metalish so then i Installed 2 Borla XS Mufflers with the stock tubing and now the sound is pretty awesome... next i will be doing 2.25" tubing with 2 Trush resonators and my borlas...

i was concidering borla mufflers if not magnaflow.. do u think borlas would sound better? louder??

sounded pretty good for stock mufflers. i just did the straight pipe mod also but have flowmaster 40 series delta mufflers. im working on sound clips now.

does not having resonators affect inspection?
It shouldn't. As long as the cats and mufflers are there, thats all you need.

Has anyone tried cutting out the H pipe to see how it affects the sound of the exhaust?

hey can u cut out the cats?
Not legally in most places. But, if you find out you can do it legally in your area, you'll have to by an O2 sensor "simulator" to trick the cars computer into thinking the cats are still there. There are 2 sets of O2 sensors on the car, one just before, and one right after or in the side of the cats. The ones behind the cat work the same as the ones in front, but they are there to make sure the cats are working properly, not to help tune the fuel ratio like the first set.
The "simulator" goes in place of the second O2 sensor on each side, and tricks the computer into thinking that the cats are working properly, even though they aren't there.
