"corvettes vs mark VIII's"

That's a REALLY vague question.

Corvettes and modded Mark VIII's come in all kinds of capabilites, especially depending on the years.

Sorry but it is a vauge question They are light and some have balls...:D :D
I had a 1969 427 then a 1973 350 ...:shifty: :shifty: :shifty:

i had a 76' and it was a pos. i loved the look but vettet took a hard hit when emissions laws came out.

Well not to put down the Vettes in any way (cuz the new vette is smokin hot and has ball$) but put me behind the wheel of Geno's monster and i'll show you how to beat'em :D

And on a L98 car, it is going to depend on what gears and tranny he is running. 6 speed cars with the factory 3.23/s are pretty quick too.

They only had 250 hp, but put down 340 pound feet of torque at 3200 RPM. So that would probably come down to driver.

Plus the odds of finding a LT1 or L98 vette that is stock is rare anymore. Most have exhaust and Air filter done minimum.

Corvette > Mark VIII

Edit:

To answer your original question, the new ZO6 is running high 11s out of the box compared to high 14s out of a MarkVIII. No comparison.

How can you compare a Z06 to a Mark VIII? Compare a regular Vette to a mark and it is substantially closer a Z06 is also 10X more expensive than a mark?

Dollar for dollar working with the same year of car (anywhere between '93 and '98) ............. I'd have to say the mark viii.

You can get a very nice '95 -'98 for around 6 thou, add another ten thou in mods to the mark that you saved by not buying that 15+ thou dollar '95-'98 STOCK vette, and you'll kill 'em. By alot.

Plus, by doing so you're not driving an 'a s s h o l e'. I see way more vettes in the same year range of the mark viii, than I see of mark viii's.

As you've seen here on the board, IMO, you can make a mark viii look alot more agressive than a vette. Slam it, throw on some meats, a beefed tranny, 3.55 or taller rear gear, and a blower, and you have cash in your pocket and a more respected car to boot. I respect cars people have 'built' rather than 'bought' .. anyway.

Nothing against Vettes. My best friend has a built up C5 that I have completely respect for. Lingenfelter puts out some really nice ones, also.

Stock times.

1997 Chevrolet Corvette 0-60: 4.7 1/4: 13.3

1993 Lincoln Mark VIII 7.1 15.4
1995 Lincoln Mark VIII 7.6 15.8
1996 Lincoln Mark VIII 7.2 15.4
1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC 7.0 15.3

And just incase you want to compare 4 Valve vs 4 Valve

1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 4.4 12.8
1992 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 5.6 13.9
1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 4.9 13.1

Personally, Id love to have one of each. I will own a Vette one day. Having driven one for a long weekend, there is nothing like it. The Mark is a great car, and I love it, but a Vette is in a different class. Not saying better or worse, just a different class.

Very inaccurate information... My near stock 93 ran a 14.8 and reaches 60mph short of 7 seconds.

Brandon ..
Were you at the coney in River Rouge this morning ??:D
There was a white Mark with the same wheels sitting in front.

hey dont get me wrong i love my mark. but if i have to pick between stock for stock. a vette will destroy a mark hands down, depends on the year of corvette course! i was a witness to this race being a passanger in my good friends stock 94 mark vs my other friends stock 87 convert corvette. we went from a 40mph roll and pushed it on the fly! the mark and vette were freaking dead even... until we hit 120mph the vette pulled (more torque). but for whats its worth on the other hand, bang for the buck. buy a vette C6 or Z06.... you will rip everybody a new :q:q:q:q:q:q:q! i bought the new car and driver.... C6 vs a GT500. C6 whipped its ass in basically almost every category. just think for a second, if they matched the up that POS rustang against the Z06.. phhhh.... i have been saying it since the concept of the GT500 (look back at my posts if you do not believe me). that the Z06 will destroy the GT500 and the big sad part is that stang is freaking supercharged!!! yes it is only pushing 8.5 lbs of boost, but still. SVT totally screwed up that car. they should of dropped the weight on that beast, raised the boost to like 14lbs. GT500 did a 13.9 through the quarter mile. sad! JP can whip its ass...lol thats what we should compare modded marks vs the GT500!!! forget the vettes, they are holding strong as a true american race car! oh yeah FORZA ITALIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you call a 2.5 second margin substantially closer than a 3 second margin, then I guess youre right.

So Stock Vettes dip into the 12 second range now? I had no idea

Nope. I dont wake up in the morning anyways..:)

The fastest GT500 stock time so far is 12.2 at 117mph with a bad 2.1 60 foot time. Once they start getting modded, they should have an easy 600 at the wheels and run mid to low 11's on street tires... take that C6 and even Z06...

no offense, but I am sure you know how many ZR-1's were actually built, and how few are on the road.....

Sure I know how many were built. I was showing performance numbers is all. Like I said, Marks and Vettes are 2 different cars for 2 different missions. And FWIW there are still a high percentage of original ZR's still on the road today, I admit, most of them dont have very many miles though.

MarkVIII93. I notice you say NEAR stock. well these are the numbers that the ford club from the link lifted from magazine tests of new STOCK cars.

In the end, a Vette is not a Mark. And a Mark is not a Vette.

Two different weapons for Two different missions. IMHO
