1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 4.9 13.1

All times from

Personally, Id love to have one of each. I will own a Vette one day. Having driven one for a long weekend, there is nothing like it. The Mark is a great car, and I love it, but a Vette is in a different class. Not saying better or worse, just a different class.

that is THE worst site to look at for 1/4 times.

take a look at the 3000gt/stealth times. 91-93 are the same. 3000gt is the same as stealth.

now look at the variation in those cars. then think....how did i run a 13.72 BONE STOCK in mine with 60k miles?

now...its no where near any L98 or newer times but my STOCK mark went 14.66 with a best MPH of 98. my old boss had an L98 auto vert running 13.9-14.1

All I was trying to do was get an objective site. I could pull numbers from Corvette sites all day, but Everyone would say they are biased in favor of the Vettes.

Everyone is Biased, I was simply trying to find a less biased source. Oh well.

The fastest GT500 stock time so far is 12.2 at 117mph with a bad 2.1 60 foot time. Once they start getting modded, they should have an easy 600 at the wheels and run mid to low 11's on street tires... take that C6 and even Z06...

of course you have to start modding the GT500 to run mid low 11's to beat a stock C6 and Z06. lets just say for agrument sakes you work the living balls out of either a C6 or a Z06. they Z06 already does mid 11's, exhaust, tune, headers... whatever bolt on you can think of. that car is easy a low 10's high 9's.... that is sick!!! now tell me about the RUSTANG GT500!?

I think high nine's is stretching it, a friend of mine has a supercharged Z06, it is extremely fast but it doesn't run high 9's, 9 seconds is really really fast man, not too many streetable cars in the 10 second and under range.

But honestly, if you wanted to make it a "pissing" contest, you could put a fox body mustang into the 9's cheaper than a Z06. But that misses entirely the point of what a Z06 is.

GT500 is already faster than a C6 non-z06.

the C6 is just slightly slower than a C5Z due to the weight penalty.

while its true the C6Z will smoke a stock GT500....its also twice the price. its aimed at a different audience with a different goal in mind.

we already sold our first GT500. 80k. weve also sold 2 ford GTs at 289k each. the first 1 had a 50k deposit on it since 03.

the other shop (GM) just sold their first C6Z. it sat for 2 days and sold for 150k.

as far as the rustang GT500....if were gonna be modding either the C6Z or the GT500.....ill take the ford. thanx.

for 1/4 times....you gotta pull them off dragtimes or the respective forums and be enough in the know to weed out the bull:q:q:q:q. L98 and newer C4 vettes range from mid-low 13s (LT4) to mid-low 14s (L98 auto verts). the marks range from mid 14s-mid 15s.

its just a different class of car with a different buyer in mind.

the corvette buyer is saying look at me. i have money and want the attention.

the mark buyer has a family and a wife and the kids just moved out. now he wants something with a little class but doesnt scream look at me.

granted this is all now thrown out. with the marks going for between 2500 and 10k and the vettes going for 8-18k for the same year range. kids can afford either 1.

lol yeah i think i did go alil too far with high 9's! but the point im making is the corvette is in its on class by itself, it should not fall in the same catagory as mark. totally big differance it every way shape or form. the GT500 is just a complete waste of money. if i want a fast car the Z06 is the bang for the buck hands down and i do not have to put money into the thing. still keep the factory warranty and rip evo VIII's like they were standing still. freaking Z06 is killing vipers and running with the Ford GT ( for almost 100 grand less *hint hint*). again im sorry for the high 9's comment. i think i alil excited.... lol. also let me state the fact i still love my mark!!!

i really agree with you about the GT500, I think Ford made a big mistake.

damn Vr4. I didnt know they got double the sticker in HI for Vettes!!!! I think I should buy some and ship them out there.

wrap your ass in fiberglass.....no way.... IMO Corvettes SUCK!!!! and everytime I spank one I get a kick out of it.:D

agree with him! vettes are GAY! IMO of course.

A friend of mine just paid 10 grand for an 87 vette. It is no faster than my mark VIII. The 80's vettes are really pigs. I will take a stang over a vette any day!!!

Vettes kick ass, especially C5s and C6 Z06s. Some of you need to give credit where it's due.

Yeah so long as we're given the cars and don't have to pay for them a GT would be great. The real world price difference is enough to buy a house in some places.

Edit: And I'm not just a GM guy, the GT500 is going to be a great bang for the buck as well.

If your friend paid 10k for an 87 it had better of been perfect or he got screwed. The market on C4s is pretty weak right now unless it is a specialty car, IE LT4, ZR-1, GS.

Nor am I just a GM guy. Hell I have not owned a GM in years. But trying to say a Stang is even in the same class as a Vette is a joke. Sure, you can make them as fast as a Vette, but its still a different class of car. And there is more to life than 1/4 mile times. Hell, the favorite car I ever owned was my old 82 Merc Capri 5.0, Damn I loved that car.

here's some pics of my 86 5.0 EFI Capri. not only can you make them faster than a vette, you can make them handle better too.

Turbo coupe wheels, Did you use the 8.8 posi rear disc as well? I too have had several stangs, two mustang SVO's and also two thunderbird turbo coupes. FORDS RULE!!!

Here are a few pics of my stangs. The SVO all ready handles like it's on rails from the factory.

I'll pass.... give me a FORD GT anytime, and it will rip a vette C5,C6 or Z06 a new ass.

I would hope so, since they cost 2-3 times as much, depending on the model of vette you're looking at. For the price of a GT you can by full tube chassis corvette that would mop the floor with a GT.

Paul.

Still just a vette.

I'll give a little credit to the latest vettes and z06s, they really have stepped it up from some of the pathetic vettes that were around for a while. The 84 vette was recognized as being a real pile. I personally wouldn't own any of them, just not my thing.

NICE cars turborich!!!  yes both of my Fox's had T-Bird Turbo Coupe suspensions under them. this gives them a 2 inch wider track in the front and 1.5 wider in the back as well as rear disc brakes and the overall better brakes that the bird had and since I used automatic tranny equipped donor cars, I got 373 gears as well . my stang was the most heavily modded suspension wise with all kinds of aftermarket upgrades and with the Bridgestone RE71R roadrace compound tires 245/45/16's it would achieve .98-1g lateral acceleration. SVO's RULE!!!! these cars were designed for a 4 banger and they do handle the best without all the weight of a V8 on the front tires. I had Motorsport aluminum heads on my stang which helps alot. here's a couple of pics of my 83.5 GT.

Hey JC, nice Capri, but man I hate those Buble hatches. LOL. Mine hate the flat rear hatch glass.

Nice Stangs guys, I prefer Vettes, but those are some nice Stangs. I have a good friend that has a 84 SVO, an 86 SVO, a 91 Saleen, and a 01 Cobra. I think he might have a couple of mid to late 80s GT parts cars too LOL. The Saleen is wicked fast for sure.

I love the Ford Vs Chevy debates. Too bad the Camaro is dead, that is a better comparison. IE Pony car vs Pony Car.

And as far as a Vette to compete with the Ford GT goes, Do a search for the Blue Devil Corvette. Coming soon to a Dealer near you. Rumor is it will be like the Cobra R, in that they will require some sort of SCCA type drivers cert before they will sell it to you though.

Yep, all you'd have to do to make it out-handle a modern corvette would be:

1. Replace all the factory suspension... all of it.
2. Replace the motor with something that makes power.

Sure, SVOs are neat cars - I love them, but let's be realistic about this...

They still have the revered Ford Quadra-Bing four link rear suspension, a stone-age modified macpherson strut front suspension, (and associated terrible camber gain through the full travel of the suspension) and they are underpowered.

You can make any car better/faster than any other car, provided you throw your wallet out the window.

Paul.
