Deserted car and future sucks.

haha mlara, my thank you was for you saying your going to be holding on to the LS for a while longer .. I'd hate to see you go

I too am saying the same thing. Although it's not the rarest car in the world it's something I want to hold onto because I think it's going to be the car Lincoln should have kept making in one way or the other. Understand that the LS paved the way for the CTS if I'm reading everything right.

Lincoln was at Nürburgring before Cadillac knew where it was!

people thought my car was an '07 in '08 lol or even brand new. Now it looks like poo :(

Many have asked me if either of my '06s were new and who makes it! The beauty of a timeless design!

I remember reading somewhere, don't ask me where, but I thought the CTS was developed for the same reason the LS was, to compete with European automakers. I know Lincoln beat them to the punch but look at what Cadillac's been able to do with it. Makes me wonder what the LS of today, or even a few more years of production would be like but that has already been discussed.

What vehicles did Ford/Lincoln put on Nürburgring? Or did they just know about it?

I'm hoping Lincoln will seriously look into using the 2015 mustang platform. That's the only real hope for a car like this from Lincoln in the near future. We shall see...

I'm just hoping that doesn't turn into the Ford Probe 2.0 :shifty:

The LS is similar to the Jaguar XJ. Considering the XJ used the same engine, and was identical in a lot of ways as far as i can tell.
So if you want to know what the LS would be today, here is your answer:

http://www.jaguar.com/ca/en/xf/

Jaguar STILL uses the 3.9 AJ V8. However, its bored out to 5.0L and produces 385 HP. Then, its given the Supercharge option to 470HP, OR optional 510HP.

So Simply put: If the LS was a success and was still being made today, its cost would relatively be between $38,000 for the 385HP, and likely $48,000 for the 470 HP. Doubt it would get the 510HP.
And it would look even sexier...

But ya the LS would run low 13's for base and low to mid 12's QM times for the upgrade model....

YUP .... What a shame it isn't made anymore... Everyone wants econo V6's on FWD platforms for some damn reason..

Pics of my 02 and my 05.

The Grey on is my 02 with Limo tint.

The LS was based on the S-Type not the XJ. The XJ is way more car than the LS ever would have been. And yes we know all this about the XF many of us have already test driven them even.

lincoln zero.. love that grey on the 02.. wish they made that kind of a grey on gen II models... the charcoal beige does not do anything for me.

I figured it was already discussed. Are those LSE side skirts I see there?

Yes they are =) he he I bought em from SPSully. The rear skirt as well.

lincoln zero.. love that grey on the 02..
Thanks dude. It looks really sexy at night. During the Day its iight.

Oh the beige actually has some gold flakes in it. Looks decent in sunlight.

My 02 LSE will live forever, barring a devastating accident...knocks on wood. When the engine dies a transplant will be performed to bring it back to life.

I like how you think Hite. I too am in it for the long haul with my LS(E'ish). LOL.

a substantial amount have either been retired as cash for clunkers,
That's highly unlikely; very few LSes qualified under Cash for Clunkers.
Also means, the LS section of this site will fatefully become a Ghost town....
Not necessarily. The SHO maintained a strong following, and SHOForum did most of its growing after the SHO went out of production. And, hell, the Marks have been out of production for almost a decade and a half, and you can't get those guys to stop talking about them.:D

E'ish...lol. My transplant will be a bit different than yours tho, something around the 350 HP range. Top secret, and currently in the works :)

Well, if anyone is interested I plan to put my LS up for sale next summer. It looks like it's only 2-3 years old. I don't mind putting up with a bit of discomfort driving it if my wife is comfortable riding in it with her back problems, but as soon as her back heals and she can handle riding in anything again it's going to have to go. No idea what we'll replace it with, but it'll be something that we can both be completely comfortable riding in.

I don't think the future sucks. Sure these cars will become harder and harder to find parts for but so will any of the other short run cars out there. There will still be very nice examples out there and if you like this body enough you will always find a decent survivor if you look hard enough.

I feel sorry for people who bought the latest GTO model. Yes they can find engine parts easily but that car was only made for about 2 years. I like those a lot but I wouldn't buy one. Parts will be hard to find very soon.

Brother had one of those GTOs. That was a badass car when he had it. Too bad Pontiac is no more.

i think it will keep its 'cult' following until we see 50+mpg coupled with 300+hp become affordable.

the exterior is 'timeless' as someone noted, esp. when you throw in the chrome waterfall and the paint-to-match bumper trim. ppl dont know what it is or what yr it is, bc there were not many made 05-06 when the chrome grill became widespread and ppl ask bc it looks good and theyve never noticed one before

if you want a new ls go get a jag xf as someone mentioned. ls-v8 is more 'jag' than 'lincoln' imo. the only thing thats gonna hold ya back is the price tag, in which case you probably couldnt have bought a new ls anyways... theres better cars out there for the money imo

i was in lincoln today, easily the youngest person in there by 40 yrs. dont be shocked if lincoln folds everything and you just see nicer packages on current fords (which is pretty much what the current lincoln is anyways right?). the old guys in there were talking, they all had 09-08 towncars and they were all disappointed that they couldnt get a new town car. no one identifies with 'lincoln' anymore. if youre a young person with money to throw at a luxury performance car, ford doesnt want you unless you will settle for mustang. they tried to shed the 'old ppl' stereotype and will probably end up alienating them if the older dudes in there were any indication. all thats left is navigator, and i havent seen any on '106 and park' lately (not that im watchign haha) so i can only imagine those sales are dropping too.

ford ≠ luxury
