Engine overheat?

I have 100k on my original air shocks. I know changing coils isn't hard. The air ride on the mark is so simple. I like the Ls, but for a DD it just isn't practical for me. I scooped my fully loaded 06 300c for just under 10k with 17xxx miles. I have had to nothing but change the oil. I like to get in my DD and go. Not worry about coils or tensioners. There is no way I could have spent that $9500 on a gen1 ls and had the piece of mind I do now. If I had bought a Ls, I probably wouldn't have had the money to drop a fully forged built-to-the hilt 4.6 into my Mark.

so would a small air leak cause the symptoms I have?

driving <10 miles, a/c on 60, no problem.

Right around the 10 mile mark the temp creeps up.

I need to find the full report, but I know for sure they replaced the thermostat housing and the thermostat, and the thermostat housing cap.

Not sure if any hoses were replaced.

I know the degas bottle and cap were not replaced.

I'm not an expert and I think there is plenty of information in this thread to help you along. If your mechanic hasn't worked on an LS and doesn't know how the cooling system works, he might think it is a blown head gasket. But before I would let anyone get that deep in my engine, I would replace the suggested cooling parts in this thread. I would want to replace the degas bottle first and see if that helps.

Rocket, shouldn't be a problem with the fluid. MerconV is synthetic, MerconIII is dino. Check the rad fan with the A/C on and the A/C off. There should be a dramatic difference in fan speed. If not, the pump actuator is usually at fault. When that fails, the fan will run at low, but the actuator doesn't free up for high pressure. That's an easy to replace part, but costs somewhere over $100.
If the fan does change speeds, then it's back to standard cooling system diagnosis - leaks, can't maintain pressure, blockage, water pump, thermostat, etc.
Thanks oddball, the simple test I was looking for, now to find an actuator.

Update:
Replaced the actuator a couple of weeks ago and air is ice cold. No over heating and I can hear the difference in fan speeds when the air is on.

Glad to see you got it fixed. I just had the same problem with the fan spinning slow, I used the seafoam trans tune and saved myself 160 bucks, fan blows like a champ, I think that's really all the problem is the acuator gets gummed up, and does not open, I'm going to flush the sytem soon and hope to get more life out of it.
