Engine Temp. Experiment (heat extraction)

Yea Im thinking somewhere around 50-100.. After all, I am gonna cut it up..

I just removed the lower engine bay cover from underneath the engine. No problems so far. The engine does get dirty but not so much its a problem either. Added water wetter to coolant, does a great job keeping coolant temps down.
 
water wetter? :shifty: did I miss something or just a misspelled word?
 
Its a cooling system additive. Water Wetter. Clear bottle, red liquid IIRC.
 
I use prestone 50/50. My car has a cracked radiator and no matter how bad I step on it, or how fast I cruse the eng. temp wont go beyond half way up as my gauge reads. Plus I live in Miami. I dont think I need to do anything to my cooling system. Would this make any sense to use it in my car??
 
I have used it in the track cars - expensive to use as your only coolant, and not as effective if used only as an additive....

Should not have to use it in a street car if the cooling system is working correctly, and point less if you are using a thermostat and fans to hols the car within a temperature range.
 
I use Water Wetter in everything if I'm doing a coolant flush. For me It's more peace of mind that if i drive the car hard it's less likely to heat up. The way it was described to me years ago is that it helps break the water tension between the water and the metal that it's trying to transfer heat to. Doing this allows it to "pull" more heat from the engine and when in the radiator it allows it to "release" more of that heat out. The heat of your engine will not get cooler then your thermostat will allow, but as your engine heats of, say while driving hard uphill or towing it will stay at normal operating temp longer.

My dad is using this in his Bankout Wagon(you may know it by a different name, look at picture) when he was having problems with the engine running over 220. He put it in upon my suggestion and he claims it runs 185-190 now.

I am putting the water wetter in my SC430, since the coolant is Toyota and already red so the weird gunk I am hearing about will likely not be visible in the coolant overflow tank.

I have some hyperlube which is like the water wetter but its green, and will use that in my 98 Mark VIII LSC. These products do work, and I know mechanics and people that like to race and they swear by it. The highest drops in temp will be if you use less or no coolant at all and only water. I have seen on many forums where people put these products into their cars, and its been the difference between running hot, and running normal.
