Englishtown Roll Call - Saturday 4/4/09

Hop on the streets is no where near the same as on the track.

Yea youre right, its worse. A lot worse. On the street it just spins it off, at the track it grabs somewhat but there is still too much flex in my rear and I believe my ic is off a decent bit and pinion angle is off a tad.

Iv spent a good portion of my weeks and weekends at the track over the last 5 years. I have a good idea of what is and what isnt. Thanks though.

I bought grade 8 bolts for my control arms and put them in. It took care of a lot of the hop. My factory bolts kept backing off after I changed out the rear. My bushings are still retarded and have a rediculous ammount of flex in them as do the stock control arms. I found a set of south side bars that I may get for $100. That should take care of my ic, though I haven't maped it out to know for certain. It will also take care of the flex in my lower control arms / bushings, but the upper arms / bushings are still my real problem.

Heave you tried lowering the air pressure a lot in the rear tires? Making sure you don't over look the simple fix cause that has bit me quite a few times.

Lowering pressure on street radial tires with a hard sidewall is detremental to traction, not helpful.

Its foolish to trade one for the other, which is why I wont race again until I have it taken care of :)

So why don't you like wheel hop? Because parts will break because of it, let the air pressure down and no wheel hop. I really don't think you will be leaving that much out of your run or gain that much with a set of DOT slicks. Seat time is always the best anyway :steering

A. Parts can break
B. Wheel hop also takes away from your time
C. Letting air pressure down to spin off the hop is stupid
D. You are insane if you think that spinning doesnt take away much from a run or does wheel hop.
E. Spinning makes for an inaccurate display of a run, so why would you want that.
F. Slicks help reduce 60' times substancially from street tires. I run a 2.1 60, if you dont think a slick would help you are outside of your mind.

No such thing as a dot slick btw ;)

You sould like you just go race for fun, and I will take your oppinion at just that, something not serious.

A. Of course and that is called racing no matter what. Don't want to break don't ever race...simple enough
B. Don't wheel hop, it can be done with what you have trust me.
C. Letting air pressure down does not mean you will loose that much as I did it with my car and I pulled a 12.5@109 with a 1.69 60 foot spinning off line.
D. see above statement /\
E. You must think your running a super stock or something if your reading that much out of your times
F. again see C. as I did those runs with mud/snow tires.

EBAY Dot Sicks Sorry but they do exist

I ain't trying to be a D!CK or anything but your talkin like your a pro racer. It's just a run for fun. Yeah you ain't gotta show up but jeez you would think it would be a fun day of runs. So hey have fun cause I will be spinning in my Mark pulling crappy 15 second quarter miles until my WRX is done :wrench

Okay, plan on meeting me at 9am somewhere around where 206 and the turnpike cross. I figure we will leave by 920 or so, giving everyone 20-30 minutes to get there and shoot the breeze and then making it to the the track by 10 AM. If anyone knows the area better and whats around where 206 and the turnpike cross let me know. Not sure if theres a rest stop or what but we'll figure it out. If there's only the 3 of us, we'll leave asap and head to the track.

This is the address.

lol, et streets arent slicks.
Nor is a qtp incase you are going to site that next. Both are hybrids.

It always helps to use all the knowledge available to you when you race if you want to improve. Hay, you can race how you race and continue to stay where you are because you arent learning anything about your car. Its your perogitive. I didnt mean to come across as a dick either incase that was your oppinion, just matter of fact. :)

There is NO way to stop the wheel hop on my car as it sits without sacrificing traction, which is absolutely retarded when I have to peddle it like an idiot as it is.

btw, the difference btwn awd and rwd is STAGGERING! dont try to think your wrx launches in any way shape or form the same as any rear wheel drive car.

Anywho, no need to continue a pissing match in a thread thats not devoted to it. PM if you'd like to continue otherwise this is over.

Yes since an AWD car is lifting the front tires the rear wheels aren't doing anything like a RWD car  Yes I am tryin to think that ;)

No, never, Im just guessing. Its a good way to form oppinions and learn reality.

Unfortunately I am seeing you getting slicks and it not doing anything like your thinking it will do. How can I come to such an assumption? Cause I have been with Pro teams to street squids and have seen the difference time and time again.

No pissing match, just reality as NMCA cars are trapping over 200mph on DOT slicks...but thats just

Justin or anybody else know of a easy to find spot real close to the track we can all meet up at and roll in together?

I should be meeting a couple guys in Brooklyn if anyone over that way wants to meet up with us.

There is a diner right after you turn off of Rt18. That way you could all roll in together from there.

LOL MT ET Streets are dead out slicks with a few "lines" in them to make the MINIMUM DOT requirements so YES they are DOT Slicks. There is NO difference between these and the NON DOT versions except the lines. I have gone 8.72 @160 and change on them through the mufflers.

Oh and 0 wheel hop! Just wheels up, LOL JK.:D
