i have a hydralic fan but i want to get rid of it. now my question is what kind of fans can i use. To any one who did this conversion could you help me pick a better one out. Btw my car is a v6

are you in Lodi Ohio, I don't know about your fan deal... But I will be in that general area helping my brother move saturday then hopefully going to the ohio meet.

Check the sticky at the top about posting and read this, I think I included the electric fan project in that

There are several threads. Quick and easy is using a typical aftermarket fan, folks have reported well on those. Next step up is modding an aftermarket fan motor into the stock housing. Then there's getting a Gen2 fan to work with the Gen1 PCM.
Some searches and reading will do you good.

i have one of the threads about the after market fan and about the gen 2 fan. but all i saw was the flex a lite i was wondering if there are other aftermarket fans out there also. just to see if there is a more optional fan or the one that will cool the car faster... but thank you for guiding me in the right direction

There's more fans than you can shake a stick at. Just start paging through Jegs and Summit for ideas. Flex-a-Lite is one of the larger manufacturers, but there are others.
I can't make any recommendations on that front, sorry.
I don't think it's helpful to look for one that cools "faster". As long as the fan pushes sufficient CFM, and is controlled properly, you're fine. If a fan is undersized, it won't keep up with the heat and the engine will slowly overheat or you'll have to baby it. If a fan is oversized (and not properly controlled), then the engine may not warm up properly or it may place an excessive load on the alternator.

ohh i see thats something i didnt take under consideration but from everything it seems like i am going to gen 2 fan swap

I have the Flex-A-Lite 180 and 183 on my LS's and they work great. They pull around 3000 CFM and I have never had an issue with overheating since I converted to them.

FWIW, an aftermarket fan with a thermo-probe is WAAAAY simpler to install.
If you have some basic soldering skills, you can follow the notes in my thread to build a Gen2 controller. If you have time (and funds), I can build one.

how much would that be costing me? and after i do that swap you guys think this car would be giving me problems.

Dude, it's an LS. Of course it will give you more problems.
If you're serious about the Gen 2 fan, be very serious about your electrical system. 43 amp draw is no joke.

PM sent.
