i have a hydralic fan but i want to get rid of it. now my question is what kind of fans can i use. To any one who did this conversion could you help me pick a better one out. Btw my car is a v6
There are several threads. Quick and easy is using a typical aftermarket fan, folks have reported well on those. Next step up is modding an aftermarket fan motor into the stock housing. Then there's getting a Gen2 fan to work with the Gen1 PCM.
Some searches and reading will do you good.
There's more fans than you can shake a stick at. Just start paging through Jegs and Summit for ideas. Flex-a-Lite is one of the larger manufacturers, but there are others.
I can't make any recommendations on that front, sorry.
I don't think it's helpful to look for one that cools "faster". As long as the fan pushes sufficient CFM, and is controlled properly, you're fine. If a fan is undersized, it won't keep up with the heat and the engine will slowly overheat or you'll have to baby it. If a fan is oversized (and not properly controlled), then the engine may not warm up properly or it may place an excessive load on the alternator.
ohh i see thats something i didnt take under consideration but from everything it seems like i am going to gen 2 fan swap
fwiw, an aftermarket fan with a thermo-probe is waaaay simpler to install.

If you have some basic soldering skills, you can follow the notes in my thread to build a Gen2 controller. If you have time (and funds), I can build one.
how much would that be costing me? and after i do that swap you guys think this car would be giving me problems.
