Ok so heres the scoop, 93 gold with chrome 10 spoke directionals. Real nice shape 109,000 miles for 500 dollars.

It has a few problems that i have no idea how to fix for him though. First the message center doesnt display anything at all, and secondly the tack speedo and fuel gauge dont work either. So i need some advice on those.

Besides that the only thing wrong that i saw was that the air ride is shot and doesnt even try to come up at all.

The tach is a common problem. It has to be replaced.

Like eddie asks, does the compressor come on?

As far as the message center, check ground wires and fuses first.

I got parts............................

I have a 94 that I am parting out. I have lots of parts.

I didnt hear the compressor try to go on at all. Thanks for all the replies so far

well if its not a short in the system....its prolly the comp..

is this a flood car perchance?

No idea, he was really excited and kinda just snatched it up, I came and looked at the car and everything looked to be in really good shape, no rust or anything. Even the rear window seal had no ripples in it.
Its just wierd that the computer isn't on, the gauges dont work, and the compressor doesnt work.

Check for blown fuses, both inside and under the hood. The tach can stick, it's a common problem and there is a fix on the web for it. The fuel reading can be the gauge itself or the sending unit in the tank is bad. As for the air suspension, check out some of the links in the ads on the site.

My priority would be to get the message center working first. With that working, you can help diagnose the air suspension problem just by seeing "when" the check suspension message comes on.

If it winds up being a hard fault(sensor, wiring, etc.), I have a Rotunda Super Star II Tester that I can loan to pull the code(s). But I would still wait until you got the message center working. As it would be a waist of shipping charge + insurance to send the scanner when its a compressor or leaking struts.

Being he is from easton PA I doubt it:D But it could have come up from there.A 500 dollar car is just that,A 500 dollar car..I would check the fuse's under the hood ,sounds like an entire circuit is blown or something.

Spending that kind of money, if the major stuff is o.k., you can afford to put a little money in it and come out smelling like a rose.

K, well we both work all day today but so far hes found out that the speedo works and that the tach is just sticking, Havent gotten to any fuses yet. He wants to put springs on the car though so if we cant figure out the air suspension he will just use springs right off the bat. More bad news is that the check engine light came on when he was driving it home and that the air bag light blinks real slowly.

air bag light might just be a clock spring in the column. they seem to go bad if the car just sits for a while.

I have the same problem with the sunk'en Lincoln...Compressor sounds like it is trying to work but nothing happends...Sounds like i will do the same thing with just swapping for springs...

Perhaps it may be a good deal for your friend to do a coil spring conversion. This will keep his cost down tremendously. With so many problems, he could very easily spend another $2000 getting it up to par.

Most of these problems sound simple and it seems that just a bit of diagnosis is needed. Check the fuses first and then go from there.

I went out for a ride in it tonight and that thing is solid theres no squeeks or rattles just the problems that I stated above... Only thing is, is that he doesnt think he likes it and now he might want to sell it. Who knows he bought it cause he said he just needed something to commute on the highway with for a while and now hes like its not me(our other friends are a-holes and talked him out of liking the car i believe).

Sounds to me like $434 (incl. shipping) for a conv. kit along with a few bucks for a message center from the guy parting his car out, would get him a decent car. If nothing else, to be able to sell it and make a few bucks.

Maybe we need to back up a bit... Is the air suspension switch on in the trunk?? I have to ask.

it is, I checked that tonight, and also it was missing a fuse in the fuse box under the hood but i put one in and didnt notice anything different it was the 2nd one down which i believe is a 15 amp fuse. I did this at night so maybe tomorrow ill go by and look at it some.

Im contemplating buying this car from him now its a lot nicer then mine (dont know if i can handle going from a black interior to the tan though.) i paid 2k for mine and have put a lot of money into it... im pretty distraught lol

is the gauge pointing strait up?

when I had my cd/am/fm put in my car ,a fuse was blown during the install, no message center and fuel was pointing strait up and my air bag light was blinking .
it was a red fuse

If it's in good shape Pay him the $500 and get her fixed. Then sell yours. You'll get your $2000 back and be ahead.

Got any pics of the car. Pepperman he's your car if he'd sell it to you.
