G-RELL's Full PLasti Dip & Others

Are you planning on "Dipping" the lower grille? Maybe cover the white with a gallon of Pearlizer?

I'll start with the 2nd gen fogs for lights and go from there.... maybe though. They sent my Glossifier to California... (customer with the same name i guess?!?!) so it'll be another week for that.. From what I've seen of the pearlizers, it seems to soften the look quite a bit, maybe even too much... I've actually been thinking of doing something with more black gloss vinyl, and black matte dip (lol already thinking of changing). But we'll see, anythings possible.

What about 2nd gen taillights? Or do you have to get a new trunk lid?

Yeah that requires the lights, the lid, and a bumper. Maybe if I were to find a parts car close to me, cheaply.... Have to sell the other one first, but I dont know, call me crazy, but I'm liking the 1st gen rear more and more....

What an awesome thread.. great job on the dip and mods. I am about to wrap my car matte white as well with gloss black accents, love the look. And yes the 651 vinyl you can work with (which I have) but the 971? and 1080? work sooooo much better. Great progress thread keep it up! Maybe a gen 2 front bumper conversion.. or coilovers.

WOW!!!!! Great thread and progress.

Got these in the mail today... I'll get picks of them on and the spoiler next weekend.

I should have bought some before I let you guys know about them
now it wont seem like my idea
Cant wait to see them on your ls

Lol I give you full credit... ill even put a brought to u by epikls above it

your car looks amazing. i have a 2nd gen white ls. so far ive gotten tints all around, and blacked out my grille, lower grill, the piece on the trunnk surrounding the license plate, and the trim pieces that go on my front and rear bumper. im thinking of getting 18 inch matte black rims. but before that, should i get wrap my roof in matte black?

Thanks!!!

I like the gloss black look... matches whats out there today (the glass roof look). Not saying the matte would look bad, just different. matte wheels and a gloss roof will look fine...just my .02

Funny this thread was brought up (sorry for the missing pictures)

Looked what happened this morning!!!

Son's elementary school did some remodeling... they also added a drop off lane and spots, well one is around a new corner built a little to tall and sharp in my opinion...

One of the teachers out helping to unload says it happens every day and they're looking to change it up... Luckily the Plastidip added a slight barrier against the chrome, so it could have been worse... Once I respray the rim you wont be able to notice (Hopefully)

Dang, that is brutal. Plastidip definitely took the brunt.

Hey G Rell, I am dipping soon. How did you do the tape lines along the window trim? Right up to edge and peel on wet final coat? BAsed on dipper's past experience everyone says the easiest is pulling tape on ending wet coat as opposed to trying to razor blade down seams.

ALso did you use thinner to help the roof/C pillar edge lay down?

Thanks bro!

Yep taped and pulled... No thinning for the roof, the only none bodylined edge is on the D pillar, so just keep it as thin as you can there. None of my edges are peeling so you should be fine!

Pm sent

D pillar? What did you convert to Limousin LS? lol

Sounds good man. The tape pulling is really the only thing I am nervous about.

Thought the same thing. Might help if you have some pull tape immediately after your done spraying. The little bit I've done it seems like every second counts.

C / D whatever THE BIG ONE IN THE BACK :D... the pulling is fine, just have someone there to help.... or have a "cut line" layer of tape not attached to your plastic so you can pull, and yet dry before removing said plastic...

ouch .. those are great rims. it hurts me seeing them scratched up like that >.< im pretty sure the plastidip will work, that stuff is awesome. but thanks for the tip G-Rell, im prolly gonna be going with the gloss look. do you think this is good quality?

I should be able to cover it well with new PD...

as for the wrap, my only advice is you get what you pay for... after attempting to do it cheap the first time, I learned my lesson and went for the best. Even then it was a little tricky, two people, some time and watching a few youtube video's is almost a must.

Ocacal 970 ra or 3m 1080 would be the only brands i'd recommend...this wasn't the exact one (size) i bought, but close

hey guys - noob here want to do some plasti-dipping on my bare stock LS. thinking about doing the grill, license surround, and wheels all with same color. does that make sense? any opinions on what colors would pop with my paint?

JP — Silver Birch Metallic

also i've tried to get that damn front license off but can't get my hands behind the bumper

Black grille and black out the chrome parts in the back and the rims too, silver and black is always a great color combo

thats a nice color too man go for it , I would like to see how that comes out
