HID Retrofit

Do they have a phone number you could call and talk to a real person?

They do, but they weren't answering. I left them a voice mail. They can be really tricky to get a hold of.

However, I have just found out that I have the option of filing a dispute through my bank in the event that 1) the item is determined as lost and 2) HID Solutions refuses to grant me a full refund. I hope that I will not have to resort to this option.

If you paid with a credit card, you usually have 60 days to file a chargeback. Threaten them at 52-54 days since purchase. They'll probably cave since chargebacks usually go for the cardholder, and there's a $20ish fee for the vendor in addition to the refund...

isnt mafioso hid solutions?

i have his kit in my 97 and love it..sold the bulbs and ballasts out of the car and essentially upgraded for free. WIsh i knew how he was doing.

Well, it turns out that there may be a happy ending to this story. I looked in my PO Box, and there was a slip of paper inside telling me there is a package telling me that there is a package that I need to sign for. Hopefully, this is it. It will be even better because my hardback copy of "The Late Shift" should be coming in from Amazon as well. Hope it turns out to be so. especially since I ran the tracking # for the item on USPS.com, and it didn't show up. Come to think of it, I may have at least one package I ordered on eBay with a similar situation with nothing showing up in terms of tracking.

Also, I don't think that this is the same HID Solutions that you have in mind. I looked up searches from mafioso's hidsolutions, which is in TX. The HID Solutions I ordered from is located in CA. I ordered from them upon the recommendation of a member on another board. Also, the ballasts for their Mark VIII kit (according to photos I have seen on their Facebook page) are black, not polished steel like Lux has featured in the post above.

It's official. The kit came in. I'll try to get it installed sometime this week.

Congrats, i hope your headlights are pretty clear or they wont do squat!!

Actually, they are in need of restoration. Fortunately, I have the silver-bagged kit that I haven't used on the covers because of me not having the kit yet. Also, I'm going to use Silverstar Ultra bulbs for the high beams.

Send them to Jamie!!! That was the best 100.00 ive ever spent on this car, the 50.00 HIDs were 2nd.

If I had 100 bucks to spend right now on something like, I would. Instead, I have no real choice except to stick with the kit. It worked well on my brother's Crown Vic.

Yeah it will help the lens but not the reflective chrome on the inside, the chrome gets trashed inside and causes poor light reflection.

+1

Cleaning the yellowed lens won't do much and neither will an HID kit for that matter if the reflector is shot

I looked at the reflectors, and they appear to be in good shape. I didn't see any burnt areas on them.

Umm, sacker's profile says he's got a 97. Gen 2 Mark's don't normally have a problem with the chrome inside unless they've gotten a bunch of water in them....

I don't think that there is any water in them. However, I do notice that there appears to be condensation on the inside of one of the lenses periodically. I also see an impact mark on the passenger side headlight lens.

EDIT: Upon further inspecton, the "condensation" may actually just be the oxidized plastic on the outer lens. I'll see what turns up when I do the restoration.

Hey DLF, you are using aftermarket HID bulbs on the OEM ballasts and they are working fine?

No, the stock ballasts will not work with aftermarket HID bulbs. I removed the stock ballasts and wired the new slim digital ballasts into the factory harness.

Linky

thats what i did also, although my factory crap already was unhooked, previous owner had put a set up off an infinity in my car and i didnt like it, it was rigged and i didnt like the light output, so i put in a 6000k 9006 based bulb with digital slim ballasts as well. i love it!
