I went to the drag strip, tons of pics

I still dont like them. Its a grand prix with a v8.

it has nothing to do with a grand prix, it's a holden.

and if they did make a rwd grand prix, i would own one for sure. i love them.

The 04 GTO was high 13's in the magazines so an inexperienced driver could get 14s. That's a great win though, they still have 350hp. The 05 is awesome, 400hp and low 13s.

here ya go

Or a Bonneville or a Grand Am or a Sunbird, whatever.. All Pontiac crap that looks the same. If it isn't retro, then think of a new name. Don't rehash and destroy the mystique. I did that car and Vette engine or not, and it has nothing, no character at all like the original GTO. That's my problem with it. All the same stuuf with different badges. And its fugly on to boot.

Nice runs, what type of exhaust setup do you have. Also since you have 4.10's I assume you have trac-loc as well?

I also got a question, when I hit 100 at the track it feels like I hit a limiter, I changed out my speedo gears. It just loses power. now

Your hitting the speed limiter which is now reduced by the gears to 98 mph. Thats why your not running times you should be. You need a chip to eliminate this.

hey it might lower the top end but if you want to beat LSIs, LT1s, 5.4 S/C, and the rest of them you NEED 4.10s. Man If I had I chip I would probly get 14.1s, Why is my car so fast, I mean driller has way more mods the only thing I really have is the 410s, and he has slicks, I ran those times with 225/60/16, and he has a 93 right. which are supposedly faster

Some are simply faster than others. You may have weight advantages. You may have more favorable track conditions. You may be a better driver. We'll never know 'til we run together. :waving:

Yeah, I have a lot of mods, but let's face it, the chip, exhaust and gears are the big 3 followed by the shift kit and drag radials(not slicks... yet! LOL!). The rest may collectively give a tad more performance but individually it would be hard to prove any gain. :wrench

So the chip takes the speed limiter off? That explains the ceiling I hit just after crossing the line sometimes. :Bang

Duh! Geno, what's up with the chip?? :feedback

I don't think it's an issue(yet), but it could be soon. :steering

Your running the way you should.
I have no idea why his car runs a little slower, its been baffling me since I first saw the times?
We see cars here at Atco with just cat backs and TOTALLY stock run 14.30's? One thing I noticed he has a Pro M maf and I have had nothing but horror stories with them on Marks, Id like to see ours on there for a few passes. He should have long been in the 13's. Driller, whats the conditions and altitude when and where you run?

... Driller, whats the conditions and altitude when and where you run?

The last 2 weekends(see Track Times and Triumphs)... about 600 foot altitude previous weekend, about 1200 feet this past weekend, both weekends mid to high 60's but recorded track temps hi 70's. Barometer 30.1 plus or minus. Humidity low at about 30%-15%. With the exception of the altitude, pretty good air IMHO.

As far as the MAF, I think I may need an A/F reading(good excuse for a dyno tune... LOL!)? It's a little rich looking at the exhaust tips. I have new O2s I haven't had time for either.

I'm not complainin' - Brad's got his running well too. :steering

I have some wheel hop of the line too, I think If I get some drag tires and new fuel filter and other basic tune up stuff as well as I chip im going for 13s and if not im stripping the car. i ran those times with some junk in the trunk hey I always got the juice too
:nos:

some tracks also give really weird times,

Correct. Last weekend I ran a 14.31 @ 95.01 and guys were complaining on the low mph numbers. This weekend I ran a 14.33 @ 98.30 with the drag radials screaming for traction on the 1-2 shift.

The guys at the track are already warning me to get ready to get a helmet. :L

i noticed your thermostat is 160 degrees in your profile. Isn't this low for this car? 180 or 195 seems optimal. Maybe this is affecting your runs.

Just because it has a 160 T-stat doen't mean it runs at 160, trust me.

Ya the lincolns do better warmed up from my exprience

No way, colder the better. Warmer the SLOWER.

I had always thought that if the t-stat was too low, like 160, then the car would never be able to reach normal operating temperatures and thus not produce as much power. I am aware that too hot hurts performance...but so does not warm enough.
