If your LS was stolen or totaled today...

what would you get for a replacement?

For some reason, I always contemplate this question with any vehicle I have...

For me? Cadillac really did with their branding and product, what I thought Lincoln was going to do when they introduced the LS back in late 1999. Cadillac is REALLY succeeding in changing their image from Old Man's cruiser vehicles, to youthful brands.

I was just watching the Cadillac Auto Show 2008 CTS unveiling clip on the homepage, and was quite impressed. 258hp from their BASE V6. 300hp from their new naturally aspirated V6..which runs on regular unleaded. And the new CTS-V is rumored to have around 475hp when it comes out.

But in reality...today, if something happened to my 2002 LSE..chances are, that I would head back to BMW..most likely a 3 year old 540i Sport. A G35 Coupe would be a close second. Love that bodystyle of the fully loaded G35 Coupe Sport.
If something were to happen to my 04 LSE I too would probably return to BMW, now that Lincoln has abandoned the performace luxury market. Although with my 87 M6 I never really totaly left BMW completly.:)

First choice is an '06 LS. In no particular order would be the G35 (sedan) or IS350. I sure hate to go over to the dark side (Japanese), but the Cadillac's are too ugly and Lincoln doesn't have anything suitable. I'll have to see what the new GTO looks like....

Those are some beautiful cars posted above, although different and unreal market compared to LS, but I would go with CLS, CL or 650i (I know M6 pictured).

Other than that, the G35 seams to be very good, especially pricewise, or again 540i sport like this one.

I drove a Jag S-type R, but I wasn't extremely impressed, it was just fasted than LS, but didn't feel any more expensive/luxurious that a car in that class has to have.

Probably a slightly used Mercedes C55, or a slightly used M3/M5, or an S4.

What about the Dodge Charger. V8 & rwd and not that common, affordable priced Performance sedan.

Charger now is very, very common in LA. My friend was considering buying one (Hemi R/T) recently so we looked at it few times at the dealer. Yea, he got a 2001 740il Sport instead.

That car has good power, looks good, but it feels sooo cheap (it is cheap). The interior plastic is horrible, the door covers feel nasty, the hood is not even held with shocks, the trunk door has no cover from inside. Chrysler saved money on every possible thing.

The visability from inside is terrible, I would not buy that car.

Agreed, they are all over around here...Magnums, 300s, Chargers. I too thought them to be cheaply made from looking at them at a show, never driven one. A friend did drive one and said it felt like crap.

I think if the LSE was toast, based on it not being a daily driver anymore, I'd go a little more exotic, like a XK8 or XKR. I can't imagine the insurance rates thou.

Ohh yeah a coupe, not the convertible.

Chrysler sells 300 and Dodges for fleet. You see both as cab's around here.

I've had my eye on a GTO for quite some time now. 2004+ obviously, can't be getting 9 miles to the gallon.

The GTO looks just like a Chevy Cavelier. Doesnt look like a muscle car, i was very dissapointed when it came out. Chrysler, Dodge are very cheap cars. GM is out of the question too. I think i'd have to go Infiniti, Audi, Benz, BMW. Also i have said it before but a Volkswagon Phaeton is a nice "big" car. If i was gonna go for fun then i'd get a Prowler.

realistically i would go for a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited v8 all wheel drive with 4 Lo all black with black interior, at the time i was either buying my LS or one of those Jeeps, i've owned 2 jeeps one v8 318 awd grand cherokee ended up with almost 200,000 miles, only things i replaced were oil power steering pump and radiator since i owned it at 100,000.

Eh, you're right on the part that it doesn't look like a muscle car, but I still like it alot. With the 05+ 18 inch stock wheels I think they look really nice, and the interiors on them are gorgeous. No new "muscle car" really looks like a muscle car anyway, they're too round. (Camaros, T/A's, Mustangs)

As a former owner of two T/A's i just didnt think the look was fitting. Has more of a two door sedan look than a sports car. Has the same grill look as a Grand Am. I looked up some numbers comparing the GTO to the last gen T/A. The GTO is alittle shorter, little narrower, little taller and 300 lbs heavier. I was shocked. They sound great and i am sure they are a blast to drive.

I drove a 06 GTO 6.0 once. It had manual tranny. That thing is fast, but I didn't like the way the tranny felt much. The interior quality was really nice for a $30g car. Well the exterior looks good, but it's not a head turner. Also it can't be had with a sunroof.

Overall not a bad car, I like it.

For the money, a used S-type R is hard to beat.

A lot of the cars mentioned are great. I like the GTO myself, but I couldn't justify paying more for a new GTO than I could pick up a nice used Jag for...

I know you mentioned no convertible but i have looked at this car before. What a sick car. For the price it seems a steal. I wonder how fast it is though.

290HP for XK8s 390HP(supercharged) for the XKRs. They move as well as a big luxury car can. Find a coupe, its frickin awesome lookin. 1997 was the first year and I'm not sure when it switched to the newwer body style, I think just in 07. The prices are very good for the car IMO.

That same website has a 2003 S-Type V6 with manual tranny. Another great looking deal. I'm gonna have to think that car even with a V6 would give a 00-02 LS V8 a run for its money. I wonder what type of clutch the Jag uses?

It'll hang but I can't imagine it being faster though.

Heres a coupe, they're hard to find. I'd like a black interior and I hate the gold trim. You get the idea thou.
Your right, the coupe does look pretty bad ass. Very James Bond/Astin Martin looking.
