Nope. The T-Bird was set-up for cruising. The shock is more like the base shock.

Well there goes that idea. It still amazes me that a 2-door coupe with removable top still weighs more (with the top removed!) then a 4-door LS. Guess there was a reason there was so much aluminum bodywork on this car :)

Ohh, and there is a coil-over kit for the thunderbird. It's $2500 though. In case anyone is interested.

Lots of fiberglass on the TBird but also has a lot of extra structure under the skin to off set the open top. Same for most convertibles...heavier than the sedan version. Without that extra structure, they would shake around on rough roads....its called it cowl shake. Mine shakes a bit but not as bad as many convertibles.
