Just wreckt the LS...

Was coming down in flow of traffic, some asswipe decides he doesn't wanna turn left anymore and cuts right into my lane... I swerved to avoid him and that was that... I ended up with the ticket and the guy who caused the whole thing is long gone... FAWK MY LIFE

BTW. Everyone @ the scene, including the others involved were commenting on how nice my car is/was... Maybe some LS admirers came outta this one. :(

I'd fight that ticket for improper lane change - WTF else did the cops expect you to do? Stupid... :mad:

Stay in your lane and get hit, that's what. Then the Explorer would have been at fault. And if he didn't stick around, it's hit & run. Either way it seems to have been an unfortunate situation for the LS that day.
It is hard not to swerve out of the way of someone coming into your lane. Did it myself not too long ago.
 
Are you keeping the LS? If not I wanna buy your wheels....

Exactly what I said to the officer...

I was like "So next time i just clip the guy coming into my lane and cause him to wreck worse?"

He had no response and just said "What you should have done, was just brake and avoid him"

I was astonished, and I even drew him a little diagram just like the one I have here on paper so he could hear my case... Basically I looked like an idiot trying to make excuses that I decided to run my car into the back of a 94' saturn.

The cops don't care, they just want to write the standard ticket for the guy in the back and move on with their night. That's it... I want to fight it but honestly I dunno how my case will hold up without the driver of the Explorer anywhere to be found.

I forgot to mention, Everyone was OKAY and I was the only one hurt, as I jammed my wrist on my steering wheel..

And LJ, what makes you think I am not repairing my car? Just cuz it was wrecked doesn't mean its totalled...

Do you guys think it is totalled from that!?

I am so sad and mad right now... I dunno what to feel actually..
 
Just terrible. I hope we dont lose another member around here because of this :frown:

Any idea what the damage is? Did your airbags go off? That's weird that you went under the Saturn like that, I guess the LS front bumper is pretty low? :shifty:
 
I estimate: Bumper, hood, headlamp, grill. Airbags did not deploy - no engine components appear damaged. Message center telling me about my front left lamps.

Also to anyone who has been in this situation before; How do I go about getting a body shop to order an 06 LSE Bumper and make sure they order an LSE Grille like I had? I don't wanna get screwed with stock parts.

i might need LS therapy to get those images out of my mind loll.....
 
I hate how the person who always causes crashes like this get away. It doesn't look totaled but some people are weird about keeping a car after a crash. :rolleyes:
 
first what are you going to do, have your own body shop do it or the one from the insurance company, speak to the owner before he orders any parts and order the parts with him so you can get the LSE bumper and LSE grill like you had, these body shops estimate for new parts and buy used parts so be weary of that and remember that the your old fogs cant be used with the LSE the body shop guy may not know that so have them order all that for you. i think lsconcepts sells the whole kit with the for cheap.
 
Man thats SUCKS!!!! When this lady scraped the back of my ls I was :q:q:q:qting brick, so f-ing pissed but I cleaned it and it was minimal damaga. But still my heart dropped to my stomach and my blood boiled, Can't imagine how mad you were. Stupid drivers out there. Glad your ok and hope you keeo the ls
 
I am talking to the insurance agent tomorrow. I have full coverage so I am covered. I am not sure if AllState has a specific shop here, but I will take your advice of telling the guy what to order... I just hope he doesn't think I am trying to swindle my ins. company by ordering non-stock (for my year) parts?

I remeber a thread a while back, probably years where a guy wrecked his front bumper and got an LSE bumper out of it.


Thanks for anymore info. I wonder if the body shop would order from a place like LS Koncepts?

I would highly suggest having Allstate cut you a check for the damage based on their estimate if they will do that. Then you can find your own body shop who you feel comfortable with and one that understands what parts you want. I'd give them the part #'s for both the grille and the bumper too as they should be able to look them up by those.
 
what year is your ls ?? I am almost positive they will total it out.. My lse that i bought was hit in the same spot as yours but a little bit more on the fender side but i didnt need a hood,so there is probally around $6000 in damage there,I know it doesnt look like it but it will be.Also did your air bag blow?
 
It is an 2004 Ultimate, like listed in my signature.

Airbags did not deploy... Guys you are scaring me saying it is totalled... Please no :(

Assuming he has no damage to his engine or his radiator, and its strictly body damage, I dont see how you can come up with 6,000. I know body parts and paint can be expensive to replace but I dont see his damage being high enough even for a trigger happy insurance agent to want to total it out.
 
well its gonna depend on your states law,but its gonna be close ,but being that its a 2004 ultimate it will have a higher book value but usually its like between 65 and 80 percent to total it out.. But if you can just get them to cut you a check you will have tons of money left for other mods. Like my lse had $6000 in damage and all it needed was a fender, headlight ,control arm ,front bumper...I fixed it for about $300:D ,But anways i hope everything works out good for ya
 
Well they go with all the highest priced stuff , like the bumper is probally gonna be $800 or $900 plus another $500 for paint.I know you can get it for way cheaper but they dont look for the cheapest prices.A hood is gonna be close to that also .Then you need a grill ,headlight,maybe a fender(cant really tell) and im sure a couple of things also got damaged under the hood.I used to write estimates for a rental company and all that little stuff adds up quick Plus the labor $80/hour .But if you did the stuff yourself like i did he could probally get everything done for about $1000

btw...I bet you that driver in the explorer was a woman! no doubt about it...take pektel's gf for example :p
