Lets talk about replacement cars

XF supercharged
CTS-V sedan
Audi S5
2016/2017 Lincoln rwd sedan :) haha

If I found an 04/05 LSE or 06 Ls with under 25k an all the options or an S type R also with under 25k miles for a reasonable price that would make me happy and save
Me alot of money compared to the vehicles I listed above.

If we're going to talk future possibilities put me down for a 2018 Buick Reatta, made right this time. Rear wheel drive, direct inject 5.5L V8, and no fu%%ing touchscreen that controls everything.

I don't want another car. I have had a few too many uses for an SUV. My next vehicle will be something along the lines of an Explorer or Expedition or something in that class of vehicle. Big enough for 4 people and their luggage to comfortably go across country. 4x4 with 5-speed tranny would also be on the list. Also needs enough balls to potentially tow a car trailer or a boat which limits me to the bigger ones. 4x4 also helps you get up/down some of the :q:q:q:qty boat ramps around here. Plus you never know when you might need it :)

drove one and loved how it felt, however the inside was a little too plasticy for me

Taurus SHO
i would buy one in a second if it had either a manual trans, or just RWD. i think i could live with the front wheel heavy bias AWD system if it had a proper gear box. I really want to take one out and give it the Carl Edwards test drive and see if it is really balanced well enough to really do some long power slides, or it they are BS'ing and using camera tricks.

Oh, you're very right. Forgot about that. :slam

I wish the coupes started in 09, I'm finally starting to see a few 2nd gens falling in to an acceptable price range. but the coupe is just so much more sexy.

on a side note, i think they need to change the name to CTC-V as orignally the CTS was named so as the replacement to the catera, and they were trying to keep with the other naming system (ETC = Eldorado touring coupe and STS = Seville touring sedan)

I drove one mildly aggressive before the sales-weasel screamed and pee'd himself. I would describe it as more of a rally-car feel then a road-car feel. It might work for you. I was just looking for something different.

The coupe is very sexy. Everyone complains about the back end, but I love it. I would kill to get into a '06 LS right now though.

if my choices were between an 06 LS and a 11 V coupe, you guys would be seeing a lot less from me! LOL ;)

There is not one thing i dont love about it! Something about it just screams AMERICA! and then punches you in the face. They might as well call it the honeybadger, cause it just dont care. its not trying to be your friend. It will shake you upside down, take your money and eat your lunch! Like it or not, you will respect it and everybody thinks twice before picking a fight with one waiting at a red light!

Yeah man, and I wouldn't blame ya for ditching the LS for a V. The V is everything you said, and more. Pretty much the epitome of a bad ass car.

I just meant that in my current financial situation of being broke, I'd be more inclined to buy the LS over the V. I also miss my LS too damn much, and don't go a day without mentioning it. I'd like to own both someday. I hope the V improves mpg without sacrificing power over time.

Scion FR-S/ Suburu BRZ

If i don't find a nice b5 audi s4 within a year or so as a new daily, i've been seriously considering the Scion FR-S for a fun daily...

Familiar performance (LS performance) and moderately equipped for $24k not too bad IMO. Obviously my first mod would be to de-badge it lol, but still cool car. Thoughts?

Oh and I'm on the same boat as others, i would be keeping the LS. Probably as a project car...considering STS rear mount turbo...some day.

Besides the fact of it being a Toyota brand it's pretty cool. Looks like a fun car to drive without breaking the bank.

Way too underpowered and overpriced.

And its more subaru than it is toyota.

For the price a genesis coupe is faster/better.

Thought Scion was a Toyota brand?

I often fall victim to marketing and developed my opinion based solely from the commercial. Now if I was actually shopping for something I'd hit the books a little bit.

It is but this car is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru. The Subaru version is called the BRZ and has slightly different styling. Both have the boxer engine under the hood. A non turbo STi engine basically.

as cool as the ideal is, I will never allow myself to drive anything from the big T.

I am hoping however that it is a major hit, it would be nice to see some of the other companies *cough cough blue oval cough* try something that an enthusiast can get excited about!

it should get wild pretty soon as the suburu version was always planned to have a turbo version, they have already announced they had a turbo version of the motor that is supposed to be used in a new legacy

and you know if STI gets their hand on it, it will be a quick little f@%#er that will be a blast to drive!

Genesis is a good choice. Overlooked (and overweight, 3500 lbs) would be the Mustang V6 with the performance suspension package. Total cost about $2000 more than the BRZ ($26,000 out the door) similar to Genesis only faster, 0-60 in 5.4 sec and 14.0 1/4 mile and 29 mpg highway. BRZ is lighter and has better weight distribution (52/48, vs 54/46 for Genesis and Mustang) but less power (200HP VS 305).

Or you could wait for the 2015 restyle. Should be lighter, independent rear suspension, and the turbo 4 should be putting down close to 300 hp. I prefer 4 doors (or two wheels) with manual transmissions, so I'm still waiting to see how the ATS pans out.

while the new mustang is a much better improvement over older models, straight axle is only good for one thing, and that is down the drag. and while the new V6 is much more powerful, its still a lot of car for the power. if its not a V8 mustang, its not worth getting.

Subaru BRZ vs Ford Mustang! - Head 2 Head Episode 7 - YouTube
even while the pony was a bit quicker around the track, it is not as fun to drive around, a lot of weight, a lot of body roll, and there is just something about knowing that every other mustang like yours is probably much faster!

once the STI comes out, it wont even be a close match.

I agree with all you've said. But by the time the STI comes out the Mustang will have IRS (late 2014 or early 2015) and hopefully be lighter and more fuel efficient (not that the Subaru's get great FE).

Again my plan is to wait to see how the ATS plays out on the used market.

ford better be careful with how they play that. they were going to do this back in the day and the new mustang replacing the foxbodys was going to be the probe. that would have been disastrous for ford. hopefully this "new era" pony wont be a major failure and will still be a monster. personally, i think the current mustang style wise is the best it has been in decades!

Saw a BRZ last week. Gotta say it's a pretty sharp vehicle. You don't hear this often if at all but I like what they did with the roof.

I love the ATS, but the V6 (the biggest engine it comes with) doesnt have a manual option. Very disappointing for me. I'm hoping they will release a ATS-V that has a manual option and some more power.

I LOVE the new 7 series. 7 series with black exterior and white interior is my new dream sports sedan. Its so good looking. There wernt any BMWs I cared about till the 2013 7 series

The turbo 4 should be fine. Cadillac is similar to Lincoln in not offering (other than the V series) manuals with the larger engines (CTS only comes with 3.0L engine when selecting the MT not the 3.6). Even if the 3.6 came with a MT I think I'd prefer the turbo 4 (lighter weight is more important to me than the couple of extra HP).

BMW has also been removing MT from the line up. I know the 4 and 6 cylinder 3 series come with MT, but I think (could be wrong) that the 5 series only has the MT with the smaller engines, and it has not been available in the 7 series for a long time.

Automatic, AWD, and FWD are all deal breakers for me, that's why an XJ8 or STR8 300 are out.
